Hello, just looking for insight on some Hornady 75gr BTHP loads with Varget. Please advise what you've found out Mark |

24.7 gr. of RL-15 in Lake City cases with Rem 7 1/2 primers. Gets about 2750 fps. IMHO, 24.5 of Varget is closer to a final load than a starting load. I wouldn't start any higher than 24.0 gr unless you already have some experience with this powder in your barrel. I usually load a 23.5 and 24.0 as safety checks before I start shooting for a good powder weight. I have gone as high as 25.3 gr. of RL-15 in my barrel without pressure signs, but I don't run it that hard for my normal load because it's harder on the barrel and action and its not as accurate as the 24.7 gr. load. |

I picked up 2#'s of Varget. I'm going to wait to order the bullets when I have enough money( couple weeks) to get 2 600 count boxes. That way I can pick up some media and case lube. The Armory in Va. Beach had the 2 #'s, decent price(19 per #) I'll start with the high 23's and go up .2 gr's for 3-4 loads--overall length, 2.250 or .60? I would like to be around 2750, not to hot? So far it seems CC has the best price on the bullets, 77 per 600 count. Mark |
