hello all,
first post in this section, first off, getting back into service rifle shooting...been a few years.  The last time I competed, I only shot reduced courses of fire...now I have been shooting regularly at 600 yds...and I have had fair sucess with the 77grn Nosler.  I just got a shipment of 80 grn AMAX's...was wondering if anyone has used them and where they preformed best...

I have LC 2002 brass, Re15, BR2 primers...full case prep, and measuring tools..
What I am looking for...and I know every rifle is different...but is there any kind of a pattern as to where they work best with regards to seating depth?  I have Stoney Point tools to measure my throat...I am wondering if anyone found they worked best into the lands .010, or .015 or if they found they shoot better off the lands by a few thous...

Again i know every rifle is different but just wondering if anyone found any results as to the best place to start...as 600yd shooting is at a time premium for me...looking to try to start off ahead of the game...

Thanks,

Chris

My RCBS mic won't extract when I try to measure the chamber size, so I'm pretty much going blind, but the load I've settled on is way the heck into the lands. (I have to pull pretty hard on the charging handle to extract an un-fired cartridge.) On the other hand, another load I played with had some pretty substantial jump (that I couldn't measure), and it worked fine.

Oh, and I've got a Wylde chamber, 1:7 barrel, and my load is 24.3gr Varget, Win cases, and CCI BR primers.

Thanks for the info guys...

my new rifle is a CLE full blown job...Krieger Barrel, CLE trigger...sights...on Early Colt reciever.  So as its new to me...(257 rds thru it w/ break-in and early 600 yd practice) so I dont even really have a "personality" yet for my rifle...so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I guess I will try starting off with them into the lands about .010 and see how it goes...

anyone else with any data pleasse share.....

Chris
