Hey guys. My name is Tony, and I'm a relatively new to the AR scene. I took my first class, Defensive Carbine 1, from Green-Ops, this weekend. And it was awesome! I carried a M16 in the Army, way back in the 80s, but hadn't used one till I got my Ruger last Sept. Anyway, if you've never taken a class, I highly recommend it. It was only a 10 hour class, but I learned so much. The instructors, who were very professional, critiqued my form, which made a huge difference in my group size. We started with single shot drills, then covered rapid and tactical reloads, malfunctions, multiple targets, shot against the clock, different postions, etc. I actually felt I had gotten my $$$ worth by lunchtime. Moral of the story, get some real training! I learned more from this class than I ever could on my own. Did I mention how much fun it is?

Glad to see you invested in yourself... I encourage you to take another class with them down the road to reinforce what you learned. Maybe encourage your friends to go with you.

Tony,

You are exactly the kind of student Green Ops is looking for. You came with an open mind and tried the techniques we advocate. It was our honor to have you as a student. We would welcome your return to any of our classes. The highest compliment that you could give us would be to bring/recommend your friends and family.

I agree with the advice of your fellow posters - get more training.

Here in NOVA we recommend FPF, Sentinel Concepts and EAG Tactical. Others we would recommend are Tactical Defense Institute in Ohio if you are willing to travel. This list is not all inclusive but includes folks we are familiar with and trust.

Take some time to digest the skills you picked up. Practice them in dry fire and live fire evolutions. Then go learn some more.

We look forward to seeing you again.

Regards,

Brett
