As a non-resident are they're any restrictions on me purchasing ammo in your state since the SAFE act. If I did my Google research correctly it looks like Shotgun and Rifle ammo are no problem. For traditional handgun caliber ammo, it looks like I can as long as I tell the seller it's for a Pistol Caliber Carbine and not a handgun, they can sell.
Can anyone confirm this? Also I know each place is different, but will most big box stores apply the policy this way? Or would it be difficult to buy 9mm or .357 while I am in your state? |
Only chain stores care about what you're shooting it in. Walmart will ask, and depending on what type of douche you get, they will either sell it or not. Obviously there are pistol caliber rifles/carbines out there, even some made right in Canandaigua, NY (JR Carbines). I've never been asked at any gun shop. If you have a picture of "your" carbine, maybe bring it to educate the clerk. The whole "pistol specific caliber" thing just doesn't hold water. Because you can buy a .223 chambered (well, others, too) pistol. ![]() |
