| I am traveling to upstate NY at the end of the Month. If I was to apply in a county up that way for a non resident permit, are my chances of it getting approved more likely? |
| if someone knows something different about a specific county please correct me, but unless you own property or a business in NY you aren't going to get a permit without being a resident. Even in those conditions you likely wouldn't. I know someone who lived in NY for years, moved into the neighboring county in PA and the county wouldn't let him keep his NY permit even though he has a lifetime NY hunting license |

A few NY border sheriffs are issuing out of state permits to residents in neighboring PA counties, I don't really know if they would extend that beyond those agreements. I wish they would. It can't hurt to call and ask Broome or Chemung County Sheriffs Office. H However, processing, at least in Broome, would take 3-6 months anyways after you fill out about 10 pages of forms, fingerprints, pictures, ~140 in fees. It's really not practical for your purposes even if they would issue them. I have not heard of counties outside of the southern tier issuing them. |

![]() That's what I was thinking too. I mean sure, http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/newyork.pdf claims it's possible now, but... honestly I wouldn't hold my breath regardless. |

None of this sounds good. So much confusing information out there. It obviously sounds like it isn't worth the hassle. I just tried in Pennsylvania over the last few days. Got so much conflicting information but was denied in person. where did you go to apply for it ? i saw where you applied in pa should have went to berks county (close to cabelas) If you have the money you could sue PA since its a shall issue state. The locals don't care because your not of them. |

you got dennied in pa?...why? In Bucks County I was told that they don't handle the Non Resident Permits there so I would have to go to Bucks County. In Bucks County they told me they know longer issue Non- Resident permits to individuals who live in states that don't recipricate with them. |

That's wierd; I just renewed one from Centre County PA; had to appear in person and present my NYS Licenses and that was all....To get a PA Licenses you have to have one from your State of residence, but there was no mention of reciprocity especial given that NYS doesn't reciprocate with anyone. On a tangent: Reading into the various States, it would seem that Florida will honor your Military Service to ccw there. If you supply a copy of your DD-214 with the application they will issue without the additional "training" I'm not positive of the whole situation and at the time I was researching AR to make sure I was good-to-go, but the foot notes indicated that IF you had a NYS Licenses, FL would honor it because its such a PITA to get a NY Licenses.
