Anyone know what they are going for and if anyone has them in stock?
I don't want the whole rifle because I already have uppers I can use I guess I just want to know if you guys like them. I've held them and they seemed alright. |
| I've heard many people talk about the mini 14s but ive also heard that the SCR is much better right outa the box. Tighter groupings and much better all around. Minis are for fun, in my opinion. Only issue ive gotten is that the carry group got stuck after firing for a while in cold weather, but i assume that is just carbon build up. I doubt that should happen and i had to mortar it to get it to extract the round where the hammer dropped the pin but didn't make contact with the primer. Not sure, cleaned it out and headed to the range next week to see if it will happen again |

$200 bucks more gets you a complete Mini 14. For that price you could also buy a whole Saiga. Quoted:

| I got one for the same reasons you listed, went to a local dealer and had him order it for me. It's okay, but I'd definitely try one before you buy one. Mine has the regular stock and I can't get a good cheek weld with it using the optics I have. Ended up buying a cheek pad for it and that helps some, but I haven't shot it much since to see if that's a good fix. The Monte Carlo stock might be a better option, but I never tried one of those. The other thing that sucks is the trigger isn't nearly as nice as the Geissele I had in the original lower. That's the only thing that makes me think maybe I should have went the ugly stick lower instead so I could still use that trigger. |

You also aren't the first person to say they needed the cheek pad. I don't know how close you are to syracuse but if you are ever out this way and are willing to let me try a few rounds I'll buy you a beer

If I couldn't take my AR's to the range, I didn't want to go. I've shot all my guns down here more in the last year than I probably did in the last 5 years in NY. Just a different climate down here for guns. You can't go to a range without seeing EBR's, SBR's, Full auto, or suppressors. Sometimes you see them all at the same bench. The GAHTF gets together at least 2-3 times a year for organized shoots. Right now I am socking away $ so I can invest in a DIAS. Best thing I ever did was move from oppression. |

Wasn't really trying to. Part of me also, feels bad for uprooting my family and "fleeing". My wife knew it was important to me. She supported me. My son was young enough to adapt. I have extended family here, and that makes it easier. Bottom line to ya'll, is if you have the means, get out of there and go anywhere. Or at least visit once in a while and get some trigger time. |

Anyone use a piston upper on the lower? Since the SCR requires the use of it's propriety carrier a piston upper won't work, unless you find a piston upper that uses a carrier where the gas key ( bolt carrier operating rod striking surface on a piston gun) is removable & can be swapped onto the ARES carrier. Good luck |

Go to slickguns.com there are plenty under $450 if you search. I will post a review when I put mine together soon in the CT hometown forum. thanks, thats a price I think I can live with. I'm going to check a few local places first and see if they can get one |
| Scr owner here. Its a good reiable design (so far). Its a great alternative in ths communist state. However, mag releases arent as easy as an ar because even with xl sied hands i cant reach the mag release without taking my hand off the fire controls (and i installed a small extension on there too). |

I'm trying to find a good crowned barrel in 16". I'm not having much luck. I think what I have in my head is a unicorn. But, then again some match barrel with a less than stellar trigger... What's the point? Maybe I'll just get the Stag for 170.00 Check here http://www.dark-storm.com/ |

Maybe I'll just get the Stag for 170.00 Check here http://www.dark-storm.com/ The good news is that he added mid-length gas system 16" barrels (were all carbine-length until recently.) The bad news is that they are both out of stock. |
