"Any goddammed thing I want it to mean, and what I mean is if I don't like it, YOU can't have it!" Coc prohibite me from telling you where I'd like to see one. Problem is, there's a definition as to what constitutes military grade lasers, and as far as I know they aren't for sale to the general public. So IF there are military grade lasers out there in the wrong hands it would seem that there are already laws on the books to address this issue |

[imp]http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_angry.gif[/img] Problem is, there's a definition as to what constitutes military grade lasers, and as far as I know they aren't for sale to the general public. So IF there are military grade lasers out there in the wrong hands it would seem that there are already laws on the books to address this issue The fact that there's already a Law doesn't deter the elect from creating their own version or tacking on more bullshit, longer prison sentences, heavier fines, etc. I would seem that there's a hidden penis size competition in Congress to see who can have the most number of Bills associated with their name, and in up-chucks case the most appearances in the media. Where there's money enough involved, one can aquire most anything they desire badly enough. There are plenty of you tube hacks on making lasers more powerfull; Should some kid have a laser designator? probably not, but there's no reason to apply prior restraint upon someone that wants one for his own purpose..For being a "Free Country" there's no aspect of the citizens life the governent doesn't have it's booger pickers into.

Why not just mandate that pilots have to wear those goggles that you can buy to work with high powered lasers?
Surely if they can force you to wear a seatbelt or motorcycle helmet they can force the pilots to wear safety glasses for the protection of the passengers. |

Force the airline industry to make laser attenuating cockpit windows. That way we can pass the cost to the victims more efficiently. |

This is just a back door ban on light sabers...the preferred tool of the religious zealot insurgency of the future. Also, if we all got blasters, it would fit their capacity bans. http://xkcd.com/1433/ |

So IF there are military grade lasers out there in the wrong hands it would seem that there are already laws on the books to address this issue Not really true, lasers of any power can be sold, but there are restrictions on the marketing of lasers over a certain power. Green lasers of 532nm <5mW can be sold as laser pointers/aiming lasers. Anything over 5mW can still be sold, it just cannot be sold as a "pointer", but there is no law against possessing and using as such. Same goes for IR but the threshold is 0.7 mW. While most manufacturers of complete IR laser units have been much more selective about only selling class I <0.7mW IR lasers to civilians, the bare laser modules in higher powers are available for sale, and can be swapped out. |
Shmucky Schumer would have a STROKE if he saw my CO2 laser. It's 5 feet long and outputs SIXTY WATTS (not milliwatts) of IR, and can only be seen with night vision. It will instantly set on fire anything even remotely flammable from great distances. I'd post a picture IF I could figure out how to do it Ever since I saw Goldfinger in 1964, I said someday I'm going to get one of thoseFUAC 700P |

Think it's been a solid month since they last banned something. Long overdue, for the good of the children and all. This state makes me sick. this state just gave us snakes and sparklers for 3 weeks out of the year. we must be grateful for their allowing celebration. |

Don't mean to highjack but I am. Are mares legs still illegal?? Last word was the SP decided they were "Short Barreled Rifles" in spite of the BATFE rules that specifically define them as handguns. I have seen them, and there are those said to have them....It's the County that amends your Licenses, and the Dealer that send the P-12 notifications to the SP in Albany, which BTW they are about three years behind. IMHO This is an arbitary determination, more of a "because I said so" than actual Law....six shots in a pistol caliber; outside the different design than the classic wheel gun or pistol, it's not a damn bit different than any other handgun.
"Shoot-shovel-shut up" is my motto. |
