If you didn't keep an AR/AK etc here, what rifles are you guys shooting at the range, in classes, plinking with or even looking forward to buying?
After SAFE, I can't choose. I just shoot handguns and skeet. Tried a lever. Meh. Thought about a Garand but it's huge. Maybe a Ruger GSR or similar. Also thought about a precision bolt or FNAR. I just can't get excited enough and commit. Miss my ARs. |

Have you bought one or you're just thinking about it? My dad bought one. It's pretty cool. Fun to shoot. Takes AR magazines and alot of AR parts. Perfect unSAFE solution. Only down side is no iron sights and AR height sights would be difficult to use with the cheek weld. |

Work on those muscles and shoot the Garand. It's a man's rifle. Of if that's too heavy for you, try the M1 carbine. I was going to shame him about shooting the Garand: I've taught Elementary School sized kids to qualify with it. Carbine is a REMF weapon. Course there's always the much abashed Mini-14, and it's overpriced big Brother the M1A Hell, anything with a "standard capacity" magazine >10 rounds is fun, but that's illegal in NYS. Better get used to shooting muzzleloaders, by the time Cuomo & Co are done that's all they will begrudgingly allow. |

You can keep your airsoft weapons for now. |

Quoted: I was honestly thinking bolt gun. I run into a dead end down other paths. I see Garand ammo is $1/rd. If you buy the Greek M2 ball Garand ammo through the CMP it works out to about $.75/rd including shipping. I guess you'd have to ship it to an FFL though. I already have a stockpile (oops, did I say that out loud?), so I don't buy anymore ammo. Unfortunately, the heyday of cheap Garands and cheap Garand ammo is over. Hard to beat, though, for a hard-hitting semi-auto. |

Quoted: So many people don't know enough about the 54r. Just get a Vepr... then you can have a bit of fun... Oh its 1200 bucks though Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I'm going to start reloading and then shoot weird calibers. So many people don't know enough about the 54r. Mil-Surp. is always fun 'til you've got to clean up after corrosive ammo. The .50BMG has been fun, I'm going to work up some "reduced" loads to play with.
Mag pinned it: 10/22 even with scarse, .10 per round .22 it's still fun and skill building to shoot. |

My FFL sold me his 9130, a real nice hex receiver. Since he was getting out of 54R, he also sold me all of his ammo, and dies. The ammo included a hundred or more rounds of PPU brass case. I sold off all of the milsurp stuff to pay for the dies and brass ammo. ETA: Not pictured above, the one above now lives in an Archangel stock.

I have a 91/30 Hex aswell and was thinking of the archangel stock, but after seeing many at the range i wasn't impressed :/ Alot of the times they wouldn't fire at all due to stock interfering with the trigger. Did you do work on yours or did the company fix the problem? On the stock I mean. |

It's going to depend on your specific rifle. Mine fires just fine, but I can't pull the trigger back far enough to remove the bolt. It actually is nicer to shoot because the trigger guard acts as an overtravel stop. But, I'm going to dremel the back of the trigger guard just enough to be able to remove the bolt. Some work fine, some are like mine, some are worse. Fine Russian tolerances! Quoted:

What Russian tolerances? They fired anything they wanted threw a working barrel (from rifle to tank) and when they didn't have anything to fire they threw themselves at the enemy.

(or at least plausible) They sent a man into space without knowing how to get him back to earth!! Yeah you are mostly right. But if you like the Rus art of kick assery... check out the Molot line. Stuff is pricey but it's mil grade and all the calibers I've played with (7.62x39, 5.45 and 54r) are widow makers. Big fan... |

The archangel stock really helps the ergonomics of the rifle, and having 5 and 10 round mags is sweet. Quoted:

took the pistol grip off my remaining AR (used Ed's riflegrip.com) but not too trusting of the LEOs in East Deblasiostan so bought a Mossberg MVP Varmint. Quite accurate, 5.56 and takes my 5 and ten round AR mags. Shoot that, my remaining M1 carbine and got back into .22s with my second Henry lever. Sold my 10/22 but kept my Marlin 60. Bought ammo pre-Obummer and have only bought sabot slugs for deer since. |

I'm debating looking into the Ammo Sales License - not sure what is required but would run transfers on the cheap for ARFCOMmers. Except 13ers. Open a store over the boarder in Milford pa you will make out like a bandit just like they do with fireworks and FUAC no TAX for you. |
