Saw this and had to post it. Poor tigers, they'll never be on social media now...
From the AP:
In New York in February, it becomes illegal to pose for a photo with a lion, tiger or other big cat. The measure, which specifically prohibits contact between members of the public and big cats at animal shows, passed after self-portraits with the animals started becoming more popular online, particularly with some young men on dating sites. Was it ever really THAT popular? |
|
Oh good heavens, we can't have people posing for photos with tame show animals, it will get so popular that children will be tempted to do it with wild lions and tigers in the park. Or all those mountain lions the state swears aren't here but if they are here they're released pets. |

As much as I hate New York and its nanny state mentality, this law is not unique to New York and this state is actually a late comer. See http://bigcatrescue.org/big-cat-bans-enacted/. |

Maybe, but I think all it does is limit other people from contacting them. The performers can still work with them AND get selfies. It creates two classes of people, what about our selfies? |

You can take a picture with me for the same fierce effect |

Sooo what if you have an old picture you post after Feb? Unregistered photos will be confiscated, you will be given a 30 day grace period to register your photo. lol, it's so much easier to laugh at the stupidity, because in their eyes people couldn't possibly look out for themselves.

Setting aside the stupidity or validity of the pictures themselves, it's the premise of having Government dictate what you can and cannot do; where do they get the authority? Why are we allowing this? Just how far are you willing to allow the Government to dictate "for your safety" which is direct opposition to your Liberties.
Think hard of the statement: "those who would forsake freedom for security deserve neither."
The Country whose Constitution I swore an oath to God to uphold and protect no longer exists. |

I never wanted one of these pictures before, they just seem kind of stupid, and I feel bad for the tiger.
Now, though, I think I might just have to have one. Any other Liberty loving Arfcommers thinking the same thing, group tiger photo roadtrip? Preferably with a couple of underfolder AK's in frame for extra FUAC. |

This law is just another ignorant feel good law. The only nice thing about this law is it wasted the legislators time. While they were messing around making this law, they could have been stripping more real freedom and plundering more tax dollars. So for that I am thankful. |

An African lion cub isn't a big cat until adulthood, and he isn't as big as a Bengal Tiger, then there's the issue of our fat-assed house cat; now THAT'S a "big cat"
Really, who the fuck has time to sit around making up Laws like this? Are the types of personal photos allowed so damn much more important than issues like un-employment, finances, infrastructure, stopping criminal enterprises? No wonder people are getting the fuck out as fast as possible. Whoever pegged Albany as the "most dysfunctional Legislature" in the Country absolutely nailed it. |

Vermont may be a F'd up state of affairs but at least they're smart enough to only let the state legislature meet for a short time once a year to do the budget and a couple things.
The obvious problem is we have to many political hack morons getting paid way too much, with too many staff, spending way too much time in Albany. Most of these laws are feel good filler. Frankly I wish it was illegal for them to waste our time and taxes sitting in legislature making "speeches' via law. A bunch of horseshit grandstanding. When I see them passing laws to make it officialmuslim LGTB band mountain dew official drink grade school sadness awareness day I get like this -> |
