Got blasted in the ass twice today - to the tune of about $7,000.
First one - I work as a salesman, work particularly hard, and always hit a solid bonus. Apparently, this quarter I did too well and my targets were "re-calibrated" after the quarter had ended....cutting my bonus payout in half. Second, I found out that I did not make the deadline for the STAR application - I am registered with the State, received the benefit last year, but no one told me I had to register locally as well. I bought my house in 2013 - go fuck yourself NYS. There is a bill in the Senate and Assembly to allow late registration to those registered with the state but not locally....but that piece of stale shit has sat in limbo since 2013. I hope all of the bad things that happen to anyone anywhere in the world only happen to NYS Legislators and Executive Office holders. I hope every time you take a shit there is no TP to be found. I hope there is a spider in every pair of your shoes. I hope your health insurance no longer covers Viagra and Cialiis. I hope you spill your coffee all over something important every fucking day. May your daughters all grow up to be strippers and date deadbeats. |

Funny, I called the ASSessors Office to re-register after some entity sent me a Letter saying that I had to sign up again: Called the Office and asked, and they said "you're already registered, you don't need to do anything." Of course these are the same dip-shits that told me for years that my Service Connected Disability didn't qualify for tax reduction. |

My head is full of fuck after going to the STAR website. What convoluted bullshit. I had registered locally but hadn't registered with the state (who is accepting late registrations BTW). I never got a letter like they said I would. I filled out the State one but when I moved in, I was supposed to magically know to go locally to Cicero Town Hall and register. I was very polite when I went there today, got the form for next year. Appealed my assessment and won so at least it may balance out. I wish I never fucking bought a house here. By the time I get the next STAR I will be out of NY. |

I knew to go to the Cicero Town Hall, but that may be because I've handed out hundreds of STAR forms at closings. Who was your closing attorney? I've done hundreds of closings, I always give out the form and tell my client where to take it, and when I do sales or bank closings, pretty much every other attorney that I've seen does the same thing. The state registration thing is new.

It was the closing from hell, looks like it is still haunting me. |

I emailed Valesky and Stirpe and asked them to push through the bills that are sitting. I will call their offices tomorrow and ask - you know how them Democrats love making sure their constituents get handouts. Who knows - maybe our State Government will get something done.
Just kidding. |

I know how you feel. Not STAR related, but still... Received a letter from the mortgage company: The escrow account was overdrawn, again. By several hundred dollars, again. Because the actual tax increase was higher than the estimate, again. So my mortgage payment is going up by nearly $100, again. In the same mail delivery I got a check from New York State. Since my town stayed within the 2% tax cap I get some tax money back. The check was for $40... FUNY. David |

Something tells me he doesn't invite random constituents in for a beer and a smoke. |

I'm kinda new to NY. I applied for STAR and it kicked in this year. Are you saying there are 2 STAR programs? One State and one local? I only got one discount. Only one STAR program. You need to register once locally (when you buy the house or generally by March 1 of the following year - depending on local procedure) and then yearly with the state. The yearly registration with the state is new as of last year or the year before to combat fraud - I guess people with rental houses were using STAR. Welcome to NY HTF - I'm not usually this grumpy. If you're in the CNY area we should grab a brewski. My nickname was fishstix once upon a time. Are you a gay fish? |

I registered locally this year and received the discount, so I guess I just have to go online and register again with the state. So Stupid. And uhh, no. Are you? |

But to add a happy note to the day my truck finally passed inspection. Had to do calipers and brake lines but saved like 3-400 doing it myself. I hope you got the lifetime breaks.. I do my every year when i go in for inspection. One less thing they can ding me on. On my daughters liberty I think i,m down to like 4.00 a pair |

I just got a foreclosure notice, well, I didn't get it, they sent it to an address I lived at 2 yrs ago. Funny, I never got the tax bill they say I didn't pay, I guess that went somewhere I don't live too ? So I ll be wasting time with Mamakating all morning.
The good news is that since I was wrecked by hurricane sandy I'm getting some assistance, they RAISED my flood insurance ANOTHER $5200.00 a year, so that's good anyway. |

Pads are like $40 bucks and take me a half hour. Thanks to the salt in NY I had to replace 2 calipers and 2 brake lines (calipers 80 a piece reman, lines around 7 dollars apiece) |

Damn - so you lost your house to Sandy and still haven't been able to rebuild, now they want to foreclose on the wreckage of said house? |

He came to my door this summer. The previous owner of my house was a (R), but one of her kids must have been a (D). Stirpe came to my door to try to get him to sign a petition. I gave him a wolf stare and told him that the kid didn't live there anymore. He got a very uncomfortable look on his face, turned, and walked away without saying goodbye.
