| Has anyone seen the online safe registration form with regards to the number of actual firearms that can be registered? I'm interested in if they are trying to restrict the number of firearms. I have 4 pistols alone that fall into the 'assault' weapons new class. Over 50 oz or with a outside of the pistol grip magazine. I've asked this question in some of the other registration threads and got no answers, other then don't do it. If you've seen the online form, please let me know. |

There is no limit to the number of rifles/shotguns classified as assault weapons you can register using multiple forms. AFAIK handguns that are registered on your pistol license do not require any further AW registration. Your county pistol licensing authority should be able to verify that. Then again maybe not. ![]() |

"Your gun is considered an assault weapon. You have until April 15, 2014 to register your weapon, or render the banned features (click here to view Pistol features PDF) permanently inoperable. " http://www.governor.ny.gov/assets/documents/Pistolsbannedfeatures.pdf |

Handguns do require SAFE registration Not my understanding. Have you verified this and if so with whom? Yeah handguns probably have to be registered with NYSP per the uNSAFE act no? If not, that would mean we could add AW features to newly purchased pistols in the future...no? |

Page 14 of the SCPD Pistol License Information Handbook: http://apps.suffolkcountyny.gov/police/forms/PDCS-4000.pdf NYS PL Section 265.00 (22) defines what is considered to be an "assault weapon” within the state of New York. NYS PL 400.00 (16a) authorizes individuals who lawfully possessed an assault weapon prior to January 15, 2013 to continue to possess said weapon provided they register it in accordance with that chapter on, or before April 15, 2014. The registration of rifles and shotguns that are considered to be assault weapons can be completed by submitting the requisite form via mail or online through the NYSP at https://firearms.troopers.ny.gov/safeact/welcome.faces. Previously possessed handguns that are considered to be assault weapons should already be listed on your pistol license and do not require additional or further registration. |

If you are planning on registering them, why don't you just go online and do it?
The printable version that I have seen floating around the net had room for four weapons. I can't imagine the web registration would have any limit smaller than their printable form, so your four should be easy. That said, NY does not have any laws restricting the number of firearms you may poses so why would they limit the number you can register? After all, Andy wants as many registered as he can get. |
