| I have a DPMS Panther Classic 16 with a down payment at a local shop and I obviously have the pistol grip removed and am putting that new AR spur grip in to replace it but my question is, I can't have ANY style fore grip whether its vertical or the angled fore grip. I was looking at the Magpul AFG2 Magpul angled fore grip but I wanted to make sure of the legality of it before I dropped $35 plus shipping and what not |
| You cannot have a "second handgrip" of any kind, including the magpul http://ypdcrime.com/penal.law/article265.htm#p265.00 |

Your better off picking up a Mini-14 or one of those swinging Mossberg MVP's. |

As much as I'd love a Mini-14, the last time I checked at the shop I knew could get one, there was a waiting list and they cost more than what I'm paying for this DPMS going by the prices on Ruger's own website.. The MVP's are nice but thats not what I really want. |

I could be wrong but your AR is not classified as an assault weapon anymore . You have a fixed magazine so you can have anything you want, Correct me if I am wrong look up the definition of assault weapon Its a detachable mag but you are correct! If you go to http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/gun-reform and go through by clicking rifle, click yes for detachable mags and then clicking none of the above if you don't have any of those 10 options on your firearm, you get a message saying "Your gun is not an assault weapon. Please note, this answer is based solely on the information you have provided". So yes, you can have an AR or any weapon for that matter it seems that accepts detachable mags but DOESN'T have any of those 10 condemning options on them and not have it classified as an assault weapon |
