Completely agree.  The liberal rags are already touting how many arrests have been made under SAFE, and that is how the State will claim "success," since obviously there will be zero effect on actual crime.  It's a pretty good trick: instead of dealing with crime, make up a new crime and arrest formerly law-abiding people for the new "crime" of having more than 7 rounds in a magazine.

It's a big state and so there will be variability, but there will be pressure to make AW arrests, and they will be made.

That's all this was ever about.

Create some illegal guns.  So they can claim they are "tough on illegal guns".

Zactly.  We just witnessed the NYSRPA lawsuit get shot down (mostly) at a cost of $427,000 and counting.  You'd better have some deep pockets if you want to take your chances in court where the state has unlimited resources to expand your anus.

NYSP isn't going to provide any guidance on how to make a formerly compliant "AW" acceptable under the un-SAFE Act.  Not gonna happen.  Of the menu of options available, modification, IMO, ranks last due to the uncertainty of knowing if the end result would prevent an arrest from happening in the first place.  Seriously, who are you going to call as your expert witness(es) to back up your claims, Aimless?

Well this leaves NYers with a few select options:

A). Register your Semi-Auto Rifle/Shotgun, so they now know for sure you have one and where to go to confiscate it...
B). Don't register it and take your chances...put your rifle/shotgun in a coffin and then put it in your safe or whatever you decide...
C). Store it in another State (where they still respect the Constitution) and your rifle and shotgun is still legal to own...

Welcome to the Communist/Fascist State of NY ! Now forcing every gun owner NYer to vote with there feet, or go to jail.

Ok so some of you are gonna beat the crap outta over this but here goes.

Presently all of my pistols are already registered with the NCPD.  and that's about 5-7k worth of property.

I will register my 3 black rifles.  that's about 2.5 k worth of property.

Let's say your worst fears come to pass, and the king of NY sends me a letter that i have to hand over my 9.5 k worth of stuff.

I'll do it.  And then i will sell my home and make 100% to 150% profit and (the 9.5k loss is less than what i pay in property taxes yearly) I will move.

Buy a brand new house for cash,  buy upgraded versions of everything stolen from me in cash, and have a shitload of cash leftover and my tax bill will be a fraction of what it is today.

I DARE THEM.  I DOUBLE DAWG DARE THEM.  I TRIPLE DARE THEM.

Confiscate my stuff and I WIN.  AND WILL BIG.  they wanna go full retard, suits me.  go right ahead and make my day.

I would tend to agree with you, points well taken, the future in NYC/NYS in general is very bleak...If you have property in NYC/NYS I would sell while the selling is still good (JMHO).

Or you could sell your house and move now, and get to keep all your stuff.  Why wait if that is your strategy?

We don't really want them approving methods.  If anything the whole nebulous nature of the situation works in our favor.  At least you can claim you tried to comply with the law in good faith and the complete absence of any express instructions from the NYSP left you to come up with a reasonable means on your own.   How are they going to say you did not adequately modify the item in question if there no official guide exists to tell you how?  While seemingly frustrating from our perspective there are times when indefinite details are best left indefinite.
