Skelos... "But we also have to live within the reality of what the governor feels is appropriate or not."

WTF, is he serious?

The downstate Democrats are in charge. The Assembly and Governor will oppose any change so this law is not going away absent court intervention

Yep. the "R"s in the senate had the chance to kill it, they didn't. Crazy gun laws come up every year, and every year the senate kills them. But since the tyrant Cuomo wanted this done, they caved like weak little mice and voted for it. It's done now. There is no chance at repeal. Skelos and the rest of his traitorous ilk are just backpedaling and might to try to throw us a bone with 10 round magazines thinking that will buy us off.

I give less than a fuck what ole Andy thinks, and because he says so is supposed to be good enough. Sorry but it's not good enough or reasonable.

I hope they don't. Seriously. Keep the 7 round max because it will make it all that much easier for the courts to overturn the law.

We need to make it clear the only acceptable option is REPEAL or nothing. "Fixing" it misses the point. You can't fix something inherently broken. I'd rather have a dysfunctional law that destroys itself than one that actually gets enforced.

Summary= Keel it. Keel it with fire.

Of course.

The governor has to sign the bill into law.

Even if you got a modification that favored us through both houses - which won't happen - Cuomo can veto it.  And as unlikely as it is to get such a modification, it's billions of times more unlikely that it would ever pass with veto-proof majorities in both houses.

The article suggested possibly allowing more then 7rnd magazines only if you are inside your house... As soon as you step outside your house you would need to change from your 30rnd (preban) to your 7rnd. Makes no sense...

If they modify it to allow more than 7, the limit will be 10.  Guaranteed.

There  is  no  " saving "  that  POS  law . They  screwed  the  pooch  on  this  one .  Actions   have  consequences . We  need  the  courts  to  relieve  us  of  this  abomination , and  then  vote
every  last  one  of  the  traitors  OUT.

I would agree that's all they would allow, however, what about the fact that unless they "buy back" (a bullshit term, I know) our pre-ban 10+ mags at fair market value then they are violating our 4th amendment rights over unjust seizure of property.

There are many indicators that point to the fact that regardless of what the governor and the legislature say or do, the fate of the unSAFE act is now beyond their control.

^^^This. Citizens must insist on their rights, and not just wait around for someone else to restore them or"fix it".

The Canadian gun registration policy was a dismal failure and ended up being repealed after the mounties said there was little compliance, no effect on crime, and millions of dollars were wasted.  I suspect the ammunition reporting will die a dogs death, but we will never have legal tactical rifles again in NY or normal mags.

No, you have a year to sell them bet there is a huge market for the pre ban magsI paid inflated prices for

Reading between the lines, I see it as an effort to kill the 7 round limit by gutting it without repealing it.

Skelos said:

I believe the governor is going to be pretty firm about the seven bullets, unless it's in the home,

SAFE says that 7 is the limit unless you're at a range. If the home is also exempt, that means that 7 is the limit except for the home and the range.

That way Cuomo can say he got the 7 and Skelos can say he got us 10.

No deal. Repeal. I agree with actions to impose the most severe penalty permissible by the consitution on anyone who tries to harm first responders - the law enforcement, medical, and fire personnel who regularly put their lives on the line to protect ours. I also would like to see more severe penalties against those who use firearms in the comission of crimes. Furthermore I would like to see enforcement of the laws that currently exist prohibiting straw purchases and attempts by persons forbidden from owning firearms who attempt to purchase. I firmly oppose any laws restricting responsible citizens from purchasing, carrying, or using firearms for purposes that do not bring harm to other lawful citizens.

The only thing that they would change is allowing 10rd mags, even Silver and all his buddies know this is a real problem as it would essentially be a "ban" on most firearms sold today and a loser in court. That and maybe "allowing" us the priviledge of loading them to 10rds at home as well as the range. If everyone doesn't cave on the registration I think it will probably go the same way as Canada and cobis. 5 million felons don't make for a good voting base.

Look at the flip side for them.  All they have to do is convict and issue suspended sentences.  No jail time but a felony record and ban on voting (might be interesting to see how fast the Democrat's stop pushing to allow felons to vote).  That would eliminate five million people who would vote against them anyhow thus solidifying their base.
