i probably know the answer to this, but wanted to see if i could be wrong.
a relative of mine is a high ranking officer in a foreign national police department. He will be participating in a US IPSC comp (which is supposed to be held this weekend in FL) he was asking me for next year if he can come to my place. i would love to take him to a range to shoot, as more of a learning exp since he is top ranked in our home country, but i have a feeling this will be a no no in NY. ATF has issued him standard transport papers, but since we dont have non resident permits, im wondering if his LEO status would be recognized. (i really doubt it) |
| I'm not 100% sure. But I remember asking about an LEO friend in SC bringing his G22 up to NY when we came up for a visit (he's originally from here, too). IIRC, it's only legal if they're on "official duty" or something. In other words, an out of state LEO can't carry into NY just because they want to go shooting. At least not state (or below) level LEO's. I'm sure federal LE can carry anywhere in the US. That's how I remember it. I could be wrong, though. |

Any US LEO can carry in NYC or anywhere in NYS. I really doubt it with the foreign cop. I'd imagine he would only be protected during his sanctioned competition. |

Of course, it wasn't in NY, though. If he can't bring it into NY, then I highly suggest you take vacation wherever he lives and bring lots of ammo. |

You need papers and a reason to be carrying it. that said I'm in Vegas bout once a year and probably have about a 50k downrange of full auto/suppressors, yarrrr fun. |

I hate to say it, but I didn't really like shooting my buddies M4 suppressed. Maybe if he had a gas-buster style charging handle, it would be more fun. But getting blasted in the face with gas on every shot didn't hold my interest very long. <first world problems> |
