Hey everyone,

I just picked up a complete Olympic Arms lower receiver with adjustable stock. Serial # BL 68xx puts it between 02/25/1994 and 06/18/1994, which means that it was definitely produced before the ban of September '94. The thing is that Olympic's records all burned in a fire in 2000 which means that they don't have records of when/how it was assembled (http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?Itemid=26&id=13&option=com_content&task=view). It seems highly likely that it would have been assembled and shipped well before the ban, and no one could prove that it wasn't as far as I know. Can I therefore consider this a true pre-ban and add my upper of choice? Thoughts?

Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no way to be 100% certain that they are indeed preban. With that said I own an oly stop sign that was produced in the late 1989 through early 1990. Therefore I am comfortable in the fact that it is a preban. As always YMMV.

In a few short months I will be living in a free state so I don't care any more!

The requirement that it be assembled into a rifle was the Fed AWB, it's not in the NYS AWB. If you are sure about the date of manufacture, then it is pre-ban. You do as you see fit.
