I wouldn't be surprised, in light of what we have seen recently, if they get some kind of great deal so as to not take this to court. I cannot speak for the stolen Ruger but the magazine ban is just ripe for a hearing in light of Heller. I do not think the state would like the AWB to be tested in the courts these days. |

Quoted: Probably heard it in a gun store. I have heard that bullshit spouted as gospel at our local Gander to quite a few customers. Too bad it finally got someone in shit. EDIT: By bullshit I mean the , "my gun is preban, I can use pmags and any postban mags I want."

EDIT: By bullshit I mean the , "my gun is preban, I can use pmags and any postban mags I want." This is where WE MUST STEP IN to prevent the screwing of our fellow gun owners and the folks that sell them: Arguing or being confrontational will not dissuade those spouting erroneous information, calm and assertive facts are usually best, if they still insist they're right offer them the intellectual challenge of researching it themselves or contacting people in the know. The counterman at the GM in Watertown was spewing the same incorrect rhetoric until I told him he was wrong, and he still maintained that position until his manager came out a told him he was absolutely wrong....noting new here, and the at shop I associate with, they still have to be reminded and they've been in business over 25 years! Same principles apply elsewhere; being delayed or screwed over trying to get your handgun licenses: if you're being wronged, chances are someone else is too, step in and make a diffrence for everyone, not just yourself. |

At least in the North Country the Judges listen and use their brain:
This could be the start of change, hopefully the right people will be invited into the case. I'd bet my lunch that that magazine came off Drum: Soldiers are issued lots of magazines, and used one are everywhere to the point where finding one is no big deal....almost like finding used batteries.
This is a case of ignorance over a unjust law: time to up the ante. |
|
CLIPS>>>CLIPS>>>God if I hear that one more time! as for the guys that got arrested...misinformation is not an excuse...if you don't understand the law, then don't buy the firearm. it is up top US to educate ourselves. you have no idea how many times at the local shows I have guys asking for 10 round mags for their AR because it is a post ban gun. I don't even bother educating them anymore...I sell em a 10 rnder.
your not going to take any prescription medication without learning as much as you can about how it works and what the side effects are... But you will buy a firearm without knowing a damn thing about it...shame on you! |

This is a case of ignorance over a unjust law: time to up the ante. No doubt that Pmag from drum, we've been issued tons as of late, there are guys who have no idea there is a ban in this state, and anybody under 25 doesn't remember the Clinton ban, I always say the Ny AWB is just like the Clinton ban.....I get a hard to believe.
Looks like ignorance got this guy into a ton of trouble...if I was ignorant to the law, and my rifle came with a 10 round mag.....I would run that mag the gun with. The NY AWB is unjust, hopefully this case goes higher....and a challenge can mounted to the ban. |

Stuff seems "funny" here.
Stopped at 4am with a rifle in the back seat in plain view with a 30 and 10 round mags. What precipitated this stop? The rifle had been previously reported stolen. The guy said he owed the rifle for 14 years....they guy is only 24? They charged the guy who had the 30 rounder and the "guy who gave it to him"? WTF |

I'm not so sure you want this case to be your banner case. Too many things smell bad; -tops is the stolen gun -4am stop, what kind of characters are running around at 4am (could be innocent but I certainly got to wonder) -the name of one of them is clicking for some reason (and not a good reason) That said, everyone is due their due process. I'm betting the stop is well document with something be it traffic, equipment violation, complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood etc. The charges wouldn't be laid if the DA thought there was "fruits of the poisonous tree". Remember your newstory is a thumbnail sketch not a blow by blow of the facts. |
| There is a gunstore by me that sells post ban AR mags. He even has a little sign that says he can't sell them to you unless you have a preban gun. I gave up after the second time trying to talk some sense into that guy. He said it was information he got from somebody high-up in the NYSP and that I was wrong. |

| I constantly here misinformation coming from the clerks at Gander Mountain in Watertown. I also have tried to correct them, but he doesn't want to hear or belive it. In fact when I purchased my Pre Ban AR there last year they sent me home with a Post Ban Mag with it. I went back in later and they told me it was no big deal and totally fine. I said BS and gave it back and got them to find me a preban one. People seem so afraid to say "I don't know" instead of spewing BS. |
