| What is the regulation for high capsity rifle mags in the state of NY? |
| to expand just a little the above posters are correct. For civilian legal posession the mags of over 10 round capacity must have been made prior to september 1994( I believe the actual cut off date was the 13th of september). Military and law enforcement personnel are exempt FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY. so for instance a soldier stationed at Fort Drum could not use/carry post ban 10+ round mags in his personal rifle for recreational use. LEO's that have exempt mags can't keep them after retirement technically.(most do and I have yet to hear of any retired cop being hassled for this). Also note the vintage of the gun they are being used in has no bearing on the pre-ban mag requirement- pre ban or current ban compliant rifles/pistols can both use pre ban high caps. |
