I lost the rear takedown pin detent spring for a lower I'm using for hunting season. I planned on sighting in this weekend but not without that. I know its a $.99 part but I would like to pick it up before I leave tomorrow. Anyone in the Rochester Area have an extra or know where I can get one tonight or tomorrow AM? I can pick it up! Or in Buffalo Area my brother can pick it up for me. Thanks in advance!

Well sight it in anyhow, install the take down pin and slap a small square of duct tape over it for the range session. Replace it when you get your replacement spring. Shouldn't make one iota of difference to the functioning of the rifle whether the pin is held with tape or detent in the short run. I spent about 3 hours looking for a detent pin when i did my first lower. Of course it shot away into a corner of the room with boxes and boxes of junk and books from moving. Magnets are your friend. Oh, and fp1201 is right, you'll keep spares around now and just having them will prevent loss. I haven't lost one since but I have helped others out who have. |
Yeah half of my things are packed up and the rest is strewn everywhere. The spring took flight and is no where to be found. I have the tap and set screws to do the modification sitting in a box too . I guess I could sight in and order one for later like you say. I have an accuwedge that keeps it pretty tight so I should be ok. I just am not too thrilled about paying 3 or 4 times the price for shipping, guess that gives me an excuse to order more than just the spring . I definitely will order a few so I can help some other genius like myself. Thanks for the common sense and help gentlemen. Rich thanks for the offer. What lower do you have laying around? Aimless-no fax machine anyways haha. How new is new? Do you know where its located?
