Looking to go camping for seven days up in the Adirondacks with my Girlfriend. Looking to do some Car camping / throw up a tent. Would like to visit at lest two different spots within that time period. We'd really like some Minor hiking with good views (waterfalls ??? )
Anyone have any particular suggestions on good spots to hit |

Buttermilk Luzerne. Camp by the car next to the Hudson river, check out the Bear Slide falls. State land & camping is free, first come basis.
Hogtown, West Fort Ann on the East side of Lake George. State land, few free camping spots along Shelving Rock Rd. Also camping spots walking into Dacy Clearing, gate was still closed to cars a couple weeks ago, first come basis. Hiking trails along the lake, Shelving Rock Falls. Trails up Buck Mt and Sleeping Beauty Mt, awesome views. |

Lake Eaton State Park- Owls Head Mtn...it's a nice little hike with decent views and not much foot traffic, I believe there is still an old climbable fire-tower. Lake Durant State Park - Blue Mtn is a decent day hike but it gets a lot of foot traffic. I stayed at both these parks before and they're nice for "car" camping. If you're into the ADK history, you can always spend the better part of a day that the museum there in Blue Mtn. Plenty of tourist crap to do too. You can find more info here for various campgrounds: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7825.html Once you get a few of these types of camping under your belt I would highly suggest you start backpacking/hiking the 46ers and get away from the campgrounds. |

Moose river plains is hands down the best for primiative area camping and all the spots are accessable by vehicle, they even have handicapped accessable campsites... and they all are FREE!!!!!!!!!!! How is it there? Crowded? I have been snowmobiling up there for years, and keep telling myself I want to come back in the summer. |

No it's not crowded at all, you can find spots there where the next person is anything from several hundred yards away to MILES AWAY! |
