So, I'm listening to the radio on my way home from work tonight and I hear that they want to pass a law now saying that if you are caught smoking in your car while there is a minor traveling with you, then you will be fined up to 100.00.
I'm a smoker, and I dont smoke with my kids in the car. but who the fuCk do these people think they are!!,!? What's next? And where does it end? |

Quoted: while i'm not a smoker, i'm a libertarian. I totally agree with you and it pisses me off that they've banned smoking in parks and on the street and shit like that. Remember that the libertarian ethos is that you should be free to do whatever you want as long as it does not harm someone else. That being said I have no objection if you want to shoot heroine, drink until your brain liquifies, drive a car without a seatbelt, not wear a helmet riding a motorcycle, smoke as many packs a day as you want (disclaimer: I am heavily invested in tobacco company stocks but do not smoke), etc. However, the part "does not harm someone else" would apply to exposing children to cigar/cigarette/pipe smoke. In this case, it is not their choice to smoke but yours and IMHO that violates the spirit of libertarianism; they have no choice. |
