Good to go under the Penal Law unless you are committing a violent felony while wearing it.

A person is guilty of the Unlawful Wearing of
a Body Vest when acting either alone or with one or more
persons, he or she commits any violent felony offense...2 while
knowingly 3 possessing a firearm, [rifle] [or shotgun] and in the
course of and in furtherance of such crime that person wears a
body vest.

didnt know that many people buy body armor.

its one of those things that would be cool to have....or a good thing for "just in case"....but i find it hard to plunk down $300-350 for metal plates.

I would like some though

I figure it would be decent to bug out or even to bug in. Plus this is a very decent price for new warranteed plates that you dont have to worry how they were treated and if they will hold up.

I'm no expert in body armor, but after buying my own, for actual field use, I have come to learn a few things: 1) Its not good forever, depending on frequency of use and storage conditions, the life could be as short as 5 years, 2) Anything you buy that isn't custom fitted shouldn't be worn if you actually have a reasonable expectation that you might encounter a threat...good tailored body armor starts around $800, 3) technology is changing constantly, older stuff, stuff you might find in bulk is likely to be old stock...some brands and materials have even been proven ineffective...you really need to know what you are buying and the history of the brand, constructions methods and materials used.
