Howdy, men.
What's these scare tactics the good Governor of the Empire State is using: Chaos, Anarchy to Reign ...according to Gov. Patterson, New Yorkers will get all rilled up if: "Such chaos includes closing all state parks, motor vehicles offices, courts, and even the lottery. Public assistance payments would not be made and unemployment payments might also be held up." Hell––if I was in NY, I'd welcome the BMV, courts, and lottery closing up. How many folks y'all got on welfare and unemployment anyways to get all worked up? How can welfare folk and the unemployed get sore that someone else ain't paying them? What's their stake in society? How are they contributing in order to have a voice at the table? If you're working, the taxes are sky high to begin with. Mighty hard to give up your coin for welfare and unemployed. NOTICE: There was NO LOOTING in Nashville, Tennessee neighborhoods after the recent flooding and torrential rains:

The scenaro you described is why the Politicians do not want citizens to have guns.
Good picture; That's what I call social networking. I suppose there's a good chance that they really want .gov to "shut down" then they can envoke all sorts of measures giving them more power. Keep that statement "..never let a crisis go to waste..." fresh in your mind. |

How many folks y'all got on welfare and unemployment anyways to get all worked up? How can welfare folk and the unemployed get sore that someone else ain't paying them? I don't know about you but on my W-4 form, I have a line item for New York State Unemployment Insurance that I have paid to the government. All employed New Yorker's are supposed to pay this tax. As such, unemployment is not supposed to be a handout but an insurance payout. Of course it doesn't work that way because the government does other things with the money. Unlike welfare, we pay into a fund that is supposed to cover us when/if we lose our jobs. My sister got laid off in mid May and is supposed to have her first career session at the local government unemployment office on Tuesday. If the government shuts down Monday, I guess she will have to find something else to do. I for one have no issue with New York State going out of business. Heck, if they declared bankruptcy, canceled all contracts and wiped the slate clean, it might help improve some things. Yes, DMV would be closed but we only need DMV because the state says we need DMV. Suspend registration and license renewals and we can keep driving and minding our own business. |

I was born and raised in NY. state and lived there for 50 + years. I moved across the border to PA because I finally realized that NY is the Second California - without Beaches and Sunshine.
I still work there ( in the local welfare office actually Each welfare "family" easily accounts for $50K + of Govt. spending yearly - and that money ends up in the hands of LOCAL BUSINESS! Landlords , Supermarkets , Healthcare facilities, Discount stores - ALL derive a BIG share of their income from the Govt. It is THESE people - not the people on welfare - who will Scream if the money is cut off. I am sorry for my former fellow citizens , but the Grave was dug Long ago............................. . |

Seriously, we need the support of our infrastructure, and while I wouldn't want to see anyone loose their job/career, there are too many bull-shit positions within the Government. It's a hell of a lot easier to see the result of the problems than it is repair them, but like a drug addict, we won't start recovering until we've hit bottom. |

A government shutdown and even bankruptcy would finally force a fix on the state it does not want to deal with. Even now they are talking about borrowing from the pension fund to pay the pension fund. The taxpayers would be on the hook for 5% interest on that loan. It is actually a pretty $hitty deal because if they left the money in, the fund could get 8%. It is losing money loaning it to the state at 5% ![]() |

I was thinking that our state won't stop electing incompetent democrats until we hit bottom. I can't believe Cuomo is viewed by so many as our next governor despite the many current, obvious failures of his state party. |

Even if the government does shut down, I think most people will respond with a resounding yawn.
The biggest problem though, is all the lawsuits that will spring from it will end up costing us three times as much in the long run. You just know that the state union employees will sue, the welfare scum will sue, the schools will sue, the towns will sue... Not only will we have to pay to defend all these lawsuits, but all of our liberal activist judges will find against us every time and not only give the unions, welfare recipients everything they "lost" but punitive damages too. Someone remind me why I still live in NY? |

They will be told to stay home but ultimately, once the budget mess is all sorted out, they will be paid for those days they weren't at work. So in the long run, it is extra paid vacation time for them. We the taxpayers will take it on the chin paying for all the extra vacation time. |

Like.................. the state librarian that makes $650.000 a year, or the guy in charge of state parking that makes $250.000 a year

That depends on how much damage the hungry rioting welfare recipients do after their checks stop coming. Already seen a taste of it in Schenectady Co. A few weeks ago; they didn't get what they wanted in their checks, and smashed a some of the employee's car windows in back of the building. |

Who the fuck is it that decides in advance of the elections who will be crowned? While it's highly unusual, the State has continued to operate under extensions which amount to line item veto's: If they send something to Magoo he can sign it or flush it....perhaps this is a good way to make the cuts, but on the other side it allows Legislators to avoid responsibility for their actions or in-actions. "Hey, I included your funding in the budget, I even added it to an emergency spending measure, but the Governor shot it down."

I cant wait to see my sis-in-laws face when NYS stops paying her rent, giving her and her husband 900$ in food stamps and all the other shit that she gets for being a loser and sucking of the blood of those who work....

jeff co guys, if shtf, we'll invade carlton island up by cape. i have room for 5bodies and gear on the boat ![]() I hope that boat is a Landing Craft else were're going to have trouble with all the ammo.
we can make a few trips for ammo. holds 11 people or 1350lbs (i believe thats the weight) so i figure 2 guys running the ammo, 2 guys on each shore to help load/unload (mainland/island) it'll take a few hours, but we can do it. We can shack up in the old carelton mansion. Barely any roof, but a great view from the western end of the island...
Dear ATF/FBI/NYSP/ABC agency or DEC, i am not going to do any of this, it is only a hypo situation

The Republicans blinked. Yes they did. Also, the last several extenders included funding for the whole year for certain programs and governmental functions. Next week education and higher education will be funded by an extender. They are basically passing a budget piecemeal. |
