So what is everyone up to this Memorial Day weekend?
Sat/Sun I'm shooting @ Mt. Morris and then Monday (weather dependent) I think I'm going to take the canoe out on Canadice Lake. |

One would think that with my family history I would know more, but unfortunatly i did not know about this nugget of informantion untill about a year ago.. However, i have been out on it many times fishing via the canoe, hemlock is also a good canoe spot.. Did you happen to get your watershed permit? Im pretty sure (dont quote me) but the water shed permit for hemlock is also good for canadice.. If you get caught with out one with as broke as this state is im sure you'll get fined.. |

Do you have to have a permit to canoe/kayak on the lake or just to fish it? I've never heard about needing any type of permit, thanks for the heads up. What I do know about the lake is that there are no homes on it, which is completely different from all the other Finger Lakes I've seen. |

That is why i would rather fish from a canoe on those lakes vrs a boat on conesus... Its peacefull.. Im pretty sure your need a permit, my buddy got nailed for just being on the property with out one. dont worry they are free.. Simply hop on 15A south out of the town of hemlock, when you reach the lake take that right, before the park there is is turn around with a booth that has the permits, like i said they shuold be free, they have been my whole life.. here read this. the fact that you can no longer download them has me worried i hate this sate |

I'm going to buy a new kayak in the next week or two and plan on using it on Canadice (and the other lake that is a mile or two north of the town of Springwater) pretty frequently. I'll check into the permits and post what I find out. Thanks again! |

The reasons for the permint is that hemlock lake provides water to the city of rochester.. My grandfather used to hunt around that lake, and my father has told me about some epic partys on the lake aswell, but this being new york. of course they put a stop to that... At one point there were a few houses around hemlock, but from what i was told they are under water at this point ( good places to fiish is you know where |
