Okay, please bear with me as I'm still new at this game, and most of my knowledge centers around the AR platorm.
I'm looking into building something that is more accurate at longer ranges, and my decisions comes down to a different caliber of AR, or something along the lines of the M14. I have been looking at the EBR's the military is using now. What is the legality as far as putting the SAGE chassis system on an M14 or M1A? Do all the same ban rules apply to this? If so, is it possible to get this stocked pinned? Still trying to get all my facts straight before I pull the trigger. Thanks |

"Assault weapon" means (a) a semiautomatic rifle that has an
ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a bayonet mount; (iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; (v) a grenade launcher; My thought would be that your evil feature would be the flash suppressor as none of the other stuff would apply to your M1A/M14 anyway, no? The SAGE setup with the pistol grip, and tele stock would have to go on to a pre-ban rifle. |

You can't use any of the sage stocks that use collapsible stocks and you'd have to loose the FH, that is if it's a post ban weapon.
If you really want a MK14 mod 0 clone, find yourself a preban M1A and build it yourself. But be advised most preban M1As are sought after for their USGI parts, so its not just new yorkers that want the older M1As. M1As are expensive right now and USGI guns command a premium. You're going to wind up dropping 2-2.5K on just the gun and chassis not counting optics. BUT, they look sick as hell and are fun to shoot |
