Are there any NYS rules on this?

I live in a gun friendly town. There is a private but unposted pond 200 yards from the Post Office, and it is not unusual to have hunters with slung shotguns and dogs walking through town to hunt it. The diner is about 50% deer hunters at 11am during rifle season. I think that everyone working in the diner hunts and fishes. Yet they have a rule, no rifles in the diner. But they don't seem to care about handguns. Is this a 2A issue?

Based on this Michigan incident, it seems typical of eateries.

ask Starbucks

jk

I read the article.  Kinda dick that the restaurant agreed to allow the meeting with handguns, then called the police because he saw a rifle.  Only because it was an evil "assault rifle" was it he called the police.  If he hadnt it may of killed some children, raped some animals, stolen midgets shoes, etc etc other terrible atrocities.

Restaurant manager/owner/whoever should of simply spoken to the guys with the pistols about the rifle.  Not called in the local LEO's.  that isnt right.

Private Property - Owners rules.

Pistols take up less space and stay on a person and don't require gun racks to be added to the Counter or Tables...pretty normal to just leave long arms locked in the vehicle.  Pistols in holsters are just overlooked.

Ask the owner if he has wall space to add hanging racks to store long arms.  Maybe the Owners of the diner figure pistols won't offend the other 50% at llam eating there...

Plenty of reasons for private property to make their own rules.
