I have an SKS that I bought in 1990,so it's pre ban I guess. Can I legally put a Tapco stock set on it with a pistol grip and collapsable stock in the great state of New York ??

Well if it's pre-ban, you can do whatever you want to it (no NFA stuff, obviously).

But if it has a fixed mag (don't most SKS's?), it wouldn't even fall under the AWB anyway, correct?

The fixxed mag has been removed to accept removable ones, not AK,the SKS aftermarkets, which also were bought back in 1990.

You need to consider 922(r).

Ah, OK.  Well it's still pre-ban being that you bought it in 1990.

This

If it was an earlier SKS (Pre 86?) you are exempt from 922(r).

So I bought the gun in 1990,if it is newer than 1996 it has to have US made parts on it to be compliant??I don't remember seeing anything say US on it?? I currently have'nt seen the rifle in years
but was thinking about getting it back, maybe to much of a hassle than it's is worth....

922r is easy.  Get that SKS back!

There's more than enough US parts to easily swap in to get your foreign parts count down to 10 or less.

It depends on production. I bought a Yugo last year but it was made well before the 922(r) requirements. I can;t remember the date but I am sure it is in tacked thread up top

I cannot find the date for when 922r is required.
