| Do they accept percussion guns? I have a couple CVA kit guns that are really poorly assembled, badly rusted and would be difficult to even give away. They are functional and would fire if loaded. Would NYC give you the two hundred bucks a gun for them? If so anyone know if they're doing another buyback soon? |
I am not 100% on this but I think they have something of a sliding scale, like $25 for a bb gun, etc. So they might give you something. On the other hand your gun is legal as long as you don;t have the ball/powder/caps to fire it. Not sure if they give you money for a legal gun.

BB guns are not legal in NYC. As for supporting the gun buy back, if your using it to make a profit to buy another gun, is it still support? |

If you are going to support the idiots in their "feel good" policies, make SURE all the police officer, politicians, clerks and others running the buy back KNOW that you are just going to buy another gun with the money they give you. |

Wouldn't it be fun to organize a whole group to do a "profit" gun turn in? Bunch of guys show up with shirts reading "What I'm buying with my gun turn in money" and have a pic of your new gun. Heck, even organize a bus to drive everyone right from the buy back location.

| These things are going to wind up in a trash heap or I'm going to get $200 each for them. The money would go towards a 1917, and a renewal for my NRA and NYSRPA memberships. So does anyone know if they'll take percussion guns? And is it legal for me to go gun shopping there and offer people more then $200 for their guns if they are turning in something nice? |

I bet if you got the "right" clerk at the buy back desk, they would give you the full amount for a handgun...even though it's a percussion gun. If you got an NYPD clerk or officer that is the least bit knowledgable in firearms, you might get little to nothing...as it always is with the NYPD, you roll the dice in EVERY endeavor you take part in with them. I would say it is TOTALLY LEGAL to purchase nice guns from people waiting in line...You should follow NYC procedure and fill out the "disposition of a rifle or shotgun" registration form, or have any handgun transferred through an FFL...just to be safe... It will still stick it to the stupid NYPD libtards any way you do it. ETA: WHEN is this NYC gun buyback?? ...because you can consider me there...waiting for the gangbangers who are selling their guns to the NYPD for crack money. ETA 2: What happens when you buy a gun from one of these gang bangers, and it turns out to be stolen, which I assume is very common? Can an FFL check on that? |

AFAIK the police will ask you to leave the area or be subject to arrest. |

(assuming of course that you have a NYC permit and so does the seller, if your both NYC residents, if the buyer is not, I don;t even think he needs a permit) |

If you refuse to leave then they may arrest you, most likely for trespassing. I am a Nassau county resident so it is perfectly legal to buy a gun there as far as Nassau is concerned. Their are two situations that could be a problem. If the owner doesn't have a NYC permit I believe they could be arrested upon leaving the place with the gun. If I buy it off them I don't know if I can legally possess it in NYC even though I don't live there. |

I'm sure they'll be very creative in charging you with trespassing, unlicensed dealer, dis con etc. It won't make any difference if the charges are dropped you're still not going to enjoy the ride cuffed and stuffed on the way to the precinct. |
