I am interested in buying a 20" upper from them. They mention kits. Does this mean I have to put it together or is it assemble and test fire and ready to shoot. I looking at the flat top and want to put a scope on it and would I be able to do it. Also how are they over all for plinking.

The upper is fully assembled, your stripped lower will need all the parts (supplied) installed...not too difficult even for the novice with a couple basic tools.
Of course there's always someone  that'll do it for you if you're not comfortable.....I haven't bought kits from J&T in a few years, but in the past they've been very good; a bit pricey on shipping but such is life.

You might want to call them and make sure they have what you want in stock, because there's still a decent backlog with them on certain stuff.

I'm still waiting on a 24" bull barrel upper that I ordered in April 2009!

I have plans on calling up on monday and getting all the information. I hope they have it in stock seeing as how they advertised it in the shotgun news.

When you get it make sure there is rifling in it. One of our members here got one sans rifling from J&T a couple years ago.  Not too sure how that made it through their quality control...

Yeah... That was me, and it was about 7 or 8 years ago. Ordered a postban upper, they sent me a preban. Sent it back.
Second one that came was postban, but was the "smoothbore" model. Sent that one back.
Third one that came had play between the barrel and upper receiver. (didn't have the tools to tighten it up myself) Sent that one back.

Fourth time was a charm!

(I sold that one shortly thereafter and bought a Colt 6920 upper on a Colt preban lower)
