Question about how to go about buying a upper, but keeping it legal. I am in love with a lmt upper at Bravo Company, but want to keep it legal, I know we can't have flash hiders, but I have found some pretty cool looking compensators like the fs556? at bravo, and a few at yankee hill, but is it ok for me to get a 14.5 " barrel LMT upper (with a flash suppressor threaded on) if when I received it I put one of those compensators I already mentioned?
I think they would have to be attached permanently, is this something I could do, or would I need a gunsmith? |

1. If you have all of the parts to build a rifle, it might as well be in the eyes of the law. 2. The lower is the only piece required to go through an FFL. 3. EVERYTHING else can be shipped directly to your house. Those are the rules and how you mix and match is up to you. Although whatever you choose needs to be NFA/AWB compliant. |

I know about only the lower having to go to a ffl, but that length barrel (14.5") has a "NFA" denoted after the description, but the 16" did not. With the comp that I want to put on it would be over 16", I just wanted to check if that was okey dokey with the great state of NY. I do not want Gov Patterson knocking at my door. |

Insert joke about blind people kicking in knocking on the wrong door here..... |

Have the upper and the FSC556 shipped directly to ADCO to have it made NY compliant. This. Have a pro do it. That's where I sent mine. I think I remember hearing that the FSC-556 was a little more difficult to pin.....so I didn't want to mess up a $100 item by attempting to do the work myself. YMMV. Good luck |
