I currently have an Olympic arms ar15 with a 16in barrel and i just got a S&W MP15 lower for another build and wondered beside .233 what other calibers i can use without alot of modifications? I was leaning towards .204 or possibility of a pistol caliber

I know you said other calibers, but why not another .223?
Maybe a 20 Varminter / sniper set up?
If you definitely want another caliber, how about 6.8 or .308?

What about .22 ?

I have a nice Spikes ST-22 and can shoot it all day for a few bucks.

First let me comend Intimdtr77 on showing support for the 2 fellow brother firefighters that died recently in a structure fire in buffalo.

Im not new to the ar community and have no problem with building another .223 but wondered if i needed a new lower if i went with a .308 caliber? I was just wondering what other calibers i can use in a .223 lower?

Thank you.

I'm not familiar with different calibers in AR's so I'll stand aside and learn I guess.

I run a regular .223/5.56 Stag lower, as the base for my 9mm setup.  No real mods were needed, other than installing a mag block, which can be removed in a second and have a .223 upper slapped on in place of the 9mm, and I'm ready to go (Although I don't swap uppers.  It's just nice to know I can go from 9mm to .223 in a matter of seconds, if the need should ever arise.)

As far as what other calibers work with regular lowers........I'm not sure, so I'll let someone else comment on that.

.22 lr may be the way to go. Very in-expensive to fund ammo for.

.50 beowulf! I really regret selling my upper, gotta love a 400gr AR15. Standard mags 5.56 mags work too!
