Hi all.
So I have a Colt MT6400c...excellent rifle, but EXTREMELY loud...and I think it's due mostly to the huge compensator / muzzle brake. It deflects a lot of muzzle blast to the left and right, as well as back to the shooter...people at my range hear (and feel) the blast, and think it's a .308 AR. http://www.impactguns.com/store/COLT-MT6400C.html Anyway, what different muzzle device can I buy to make it quieter? (No ,not a suppressor). Keep in mind I live in NY and can't have a flash hider...and the MT6400c series have pinned muzzle brakes also. Thanks for any help...I am new to muzzle devices. I also posted this in AR15 discussions, but I figured us NY and NJers would know what devices were best for post ban rifles. |

That says it is also a flash supressor...that wouldn't be legal would it?
ETA: I see the BATF classified it as a non-flash supressing device...cool. BUT - How would I install this on a the MT6400c barrel? Would I have to get the barrel threaded? And will it do a better job of directing noise downrange? NOISE is my primary concern. |

Hey,
I bought a 6400c a while back and wanted to make the same modification you're asking about. Because the 6400c barrel has not got the traditional threaded end, I went overboard and swapped barrels before I put the PWS brake on. (I had ADCO swap out the 6400c barrel for a neutered 6920 barrel.) Do you have to do this? No. I just didn't want anyone permanently altering the 6400c's barrel...which they would have to do to put on a new brake. The original barrel is safe and sound, covered in oil, and hiding under my workbench. |
