Guys,

Got there at 2PM. Nice weather. Fair amount of shooters. Mostly hunter types. One dude was trying to sight in his Bushmaster.

My first time down at the 100 yd benches.

Met a friendly dude named Tom who was shooting an old Mini 14. There was a pair of shooters...guy/girl...shooting an AR15 I couldn't recognize. Very nice camo paint job...bipod...but I couldn't read the roll marks at all.

My first "bad" day at Brookhaven. I got there at (I guess) the exact wrong time. I was at the bench for 35 minutes before I even got to go down range and put up a target. The soda machine stole my cash! (The machine dude was nice enough to refund it a while later.)

Had to sight in a rifle I've never fired before 'cause I need it for next month's course at Peconic. Bought a nice new Shoot N-C target. It worked great, but by the time I got to go down range to cover up the holes and try again, I had to leave. (Wife stuff.)

I fired a total of about 12 rounds...and I was there for 80 minutes.

Just not my day, that's all.

Hmmm...  35 minutes.  That usually means someone is BS'ing too much, or trying to help a customer with a gun and has forgotten all about the time. I've seen even worse from a certain somebody when they get caught up in things. Sometimes you need to snap him back to reality by asking when the next cease fire is.

You should have asked Howard to sell you the clock from  Huntington before they closed the gates

I was there last week and there was alot of time between cease fires too. Sounds like you ran into Doug and his friend (the girl). Doug shoots a Bushy and the girl ( I never got her name) shoots a Robinson Armament. Very nice people to shoot with. I was gonna go today but I had a "honey do" list to take care of.

Wow, you guys can see my imaginary friend ?!?!?!?

Yeah, it was a weird day.  I was zeroing my shotgun at 50' and lost a screw to the rear sight.  Decided not to get pissed and whipped out my Anschutz .22LR and proceeded to put three shots into a bug hole.  Then me and my friend moved to 100'.  I kept shooting my .22 and was not quite as good as I had hoped for.  My friend was trying out an Aimpoint on her XCR.  She liked it and shot well.

Veracity, we must have been to your right.  I remember thinking that poor guy has been waiting forever.  I don't know if they were running long relays because it was getting close to the end.  80minutes for 12 rounds sucks.  Oh well, I'm sure there are better days ahead.

Doug,

As one of the fine gentlemen in this post already pointed out, a "bad" day at the range is far better than getting nagged by my wife.
