Anyone else's FFL experiencing a delay or fax-only situation with NICS in NJ? My dealer says he's has buyers from Friday just being approved today, if that makes sense.

Sounds like the NJSP NICS Unit started its holiday partying on Friday!

Could just be overloading the entire NICS system. Mine was delayed back in early October, for 5 days.

that happened to me a few months ago. 1 hr delay. As if the 3 month HG permit, 2 references, letter to my employer, state and FBI background check werent enough.

It took me 3.5 hours today to get it thru from fax to call back !
Ridiculous.

What is up with that? Is it to prove you are employed or do they ask your employer if you are qualified to own a gun? I just put in for some permits, and as Im self employed, they said they didnt need to send that letter.

I've never heard of any letter to my employer either. Hell, back in the 90's I even put in for a few permits while I was unemployed, and actually put "unemployed" on the application for employer info. And I got those permits without issue.....
