Hey guys,

I need a fairly inexpensive gun safe and I found this:

www.libertysafe.com/safe_centurion.php

I am going for the 17 gun safe.  I figure that gives me plenty of room to grow.  The place I found near my apartment has it for $695.00.  So I would not have to pay any shipping and it is only 430lbs so my friend and I should be able to move it in.  I know the safe has a S&G lock mechanism.  Any suggestions?

ETA: Any of you WNY guys I found this safe at Ballard's RV place on RT20 and Pleasant in Hamburg.  They have a warehouse in the back with like 50 different safes.

When ever i ask about these safes, they tell me they are the most popular, no matter what store i go to. The prices are great and they look like quality safes. Ive been meaning to pick one up.

Really?  The guy I spoke said these are actually nice safes especially for the price.  I mean on the down side they are not plate steel, but they weigh a hell of a lot and are 12 gauge steel.

If you think you need a 17 Gun version go for the next size up. My buddy has the Colonial 23 and he constantly bitches about only getting at most half that number of firearms in the safe. And I've seen them there basically on top of each other.

I was just doing some research myself as I need to get one and pretty much everyone I respect is telling me to take the number of Firearms I believe I will have tops then double that figure to get the proper size safe. Its funny because my buddy pretty much proved it. YMMV as usual..

Good luck with the Search!

Agreed with this, safes never fit nearly as many guns as they advertise, get the biggest you can afford. Can use up any extra space on ammo and such

i have a liberty safe and it a very good quality well made safe. believe me you will never fit into it what they claim. i am proof of that. go to their store if you have one there and check it out in person before you purchase.

'scopes' is the reason, they take up safe real estate like greedy pigs
