As per the state constitution:
Basically Bruno would be acting Governor until November and would retain his seat in the senate. This is very similar to how he currently has all of the duties of Lt. Gov. without the title. The scary thing is that sheldon silver would then be next in line. |

If Bruno was the acting Governor he would also have the power to veto a Bill. AFAIK if Patterson was to resign as Governor a special election would be held in November '08 at which time a new Governor would be elected to serve out Spitzer's original four year term of office. A regular election for governor would then be held in Nov. 2010. |
Governor is 4 year term. I really don't think the people of NY would care if Gov Patterson smoked crack |
Thanks, I had 6 on my brain because he was elected in 2006. If there was credible evidence that he is currently using cocaine he would be impeached if he didn't resign. |
