hey uh, for the state of NJ, is it normal for a PD to require two letters of recommendation per permit? or is that something my local PD threw in? and if its not- what law could i have quoted? |
when you apply for your initial NJ FID, you'll need to put down the names, addresses, and phone numbers of two references. note that most folks apply for one or more pistol purchase permits at the same time as their initial NJ FID application. if, after you have your FID in hand you apply for a pistol purchase permit, you don't need to go through the reference business again. see line 31... www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/sts-033.pdf ar-jedi |
| Howell N.J sends out the two reference letters (non family) and they also send out a letter to your job asking for a reference and letting them know you want to purchase a handgun. They repeat this process with every handgun purchase permit you apply for. I love to collect firearms but I hate applying for handgun purchase permits because of what my job will think, a one time job reference should be enough! |
I did still have to list two references, same as FID, but they were not contacted and never was I asked to provide actual letters of recommendation! As we have seen here time and time again (more so i NY it seems) every PD has their own rules on top of the state's. |
That depends on whether or not you reside in their household........if so, then YES, they do, and will not issue without their approval first. |
Im self employed, and they didnt contact me or my business partner at my job. |
QFT IIRC, the only thing that changes is if you haven't applied for one in a few (4-5) years, you are required to be re-fingerprinted
