I know high-cap mags are a NoGo in NJ, as well as tele-stocks, flash hiders, and whatever other evil AWB features they hung on to. Can you get around this by paying for an NFA tax stamp or is it completely illegal, regardless? And there's no way around suppressors, right? Totally and completely illegal? |

You can't circumvent any NJ laws by going NFA. An SBR would be considered by NJ to be a sawed-off shotgun (yes, even though it's a rifle), and is illegal per 2C:39-3b. Similarly, sound suppressors ("silencers") are illegal per 2C:39-3c. A rifle is considered an "assault firearm" if it's semi-auto, accepts a detachable magazine, and possesses at least two of the following features: pistol-grip, flash hider, folding or telescoping stock, bayonet lug, or grenade launcher. This is defined in 2C:39-1w, as well as an interpretation from the AG as to the meaning of "substantially identical" in same law, and possession is illegal per 2C:39-5f. All laws available here |
