Work gets out at 3 and I was hoping on getting there around 5. That time slot can leave you almost alone on the weekdays. If not tomorrow, certainly some time over the weekend. I'll make sure I'm wearing a ARF t-shirt. I've got a new front sight on my 45 that I have to zero and a scope for my M1 that needs to be zeroed. I'll be the guy mumbling about Corzine.

I got there around 5 and was the only one at the pistol range and then moved over to the 100y range and was the only one there for about 15 minutes until one other guy came by. You know its dead when the RSO has to bug you about putting your safety flag in backwards in an unloaded, opened, no mag in pistol condition...and watches to see if you do it again.

LMAO! We always used to grumble about the safety officers there. Don't get me wrong - I agree 100% that safety comes first - but some of the RSO's are nothing short of safety Nazi's! They seem to be a bit....."extreme"! Was the RSO perhaps tall, slender & blue eyed? I always thought Jim was the worst. <I sure wish I could be there shooting right now! I miss my NJ pals>

Don't get me wrong, he was a nice enough guy, but when I'm walking 10 paces back and forth on an empty range, how much danger is there? This is the new full time RSO, about 6', small beard, beer belly, I'd say late 30's early 40's. He was real interested in helping this guy out with his new Mauser and was geniue and true to duties. Not a bad thing, but, you know what I mean...Hell I was't shooting at the dumb birds that were on the ground no more three ports away from my target. The voices in my head said Natural Selection, take them out...

Ya thats Keith... hes on a war path lately. Shit if I was living in a house that had 3 bedrooms Id get some chicks to keep me company... but then again how you gonna get them to go to your house.. "Where you live sweety?" "A gun range." "Oh bye" That RSO Keith has been trying to get me for "rapid fire" for a while now... guess he doesn't know I bring 15-20 (15 round) mags with me in one trip rather than brining cases of ammo and reloading 2-3 mags every time. Anyways, 2 of them are awesome I forgot their names, there is an older guy thats drives a red truck around and another guy that looks exactly like Keith but has red hair and a red beard. Really nice, usually have conversations with them. Both of them gave me the nickname "Winchester" up at the range because I shoot so damn much and they bust my balls that I have stock in Winchester, Remington, etc haha. I'm looking to go up again sometimes this week to get rid of my 15+ shot brass, since they are getting to thin for my likening. Ill post here what day I'm going and when. |

to bad keith was not there to see the 12 gauge get waved over my face two times by the same guy! the first time i asked him nicely to keep the gun pointed DOWN range! he said," what, its not loaded" so, then he did it again, i told him the next time he waves me off he will be looking down the barrel of my unloaded gun. he didnt like that to much.and he didnt stop there, while guys are down range he is messing around with the shotgun in front of the safety line. an older gent yelled "HEY YOU, BEHIND THE LINE!!" i packed up and told the R.O. but who knows what happened after that. however, before ole' fudd got there i had a BLAST!  next time i'll give a few days notice so some of us can meet up! |

War path now, shit wait until winter when hunting season is over and the place is dead and so are the bars. Yea, I'd imagine that bringing girls back to the love shack would be a problem. Especially after they read the sign that says "You're leaving the American Sector..." Provided of course they can read. On the plus size (like the women in the near by bars), like when I was stationed in Alaska, who's gonna see if you bring a heffer up to your corral? And if they do, beats being alone...unless of course you have some pride. Part of the compensation package should go for a monthly hummer or escort service. Would certainly make our lives more enjoyable. |
| No problems to report on Saturday. Was there at 8:30 with another guy shooting a garand. We were the only ones there until 9. The guy who lives there asked nicely if I could lower my targets at the 50yd, which i did. I left the 100yd range at 10:30 (about 10 shooters by then, one other ar) to go to 200yd range where I met two guys, but one was leaving. Nice day, I was sorry i could only spend 5 hours. |
| Got back from the range today, man I love weekdays when Im the only one there. I will try to post in advance when i go up again. Next time I go up will be in a week or 2 after I get time to pick up my 2 newest additions... got a Savage 10FP LE .308 and a 7.62x54R Russian Dragunov SVD sitting in my dealers shop in PA, just havent had the time since summer came around and have been maintaining boats to put in the water. |
