[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Colt Match M4

Hello,

Just joined the Ar15.com forum. Been living in NJ about 1 year and I am in the process of researching my "black gun" options. What are your thoughts on the the colt match m4? Is seems like it would work for me and it is NJ legal, anyone have one or experience with it?

I'm leaning towards the colt, that while in the army I found it always reliable and easy to maintain.

bushmaster I would go with to make a close to m4 ,I dont think colt makes a legal m4 for nj.

Thanks, I thought the colt match target rifle was legal in here in NJ. I pulled it off of http://www.state.nj.us/lps/njsp/about/fire_ag1.html.

The laws in NJ are confusing to say the least. What makes an off the rack ar-15 type legal in NJ?

AFAIK A Colt Match Target is legal in NJ. RRA and other manufacturers also make NJ legal rifles.

You can't possess any of the banned rifles listed in this FAQ: New Jersey Gun Laws

You are limited to fifteen round mags. See PK90's (a NJ FFL and member here) store for NJ legal AR15 mags: Arms-n-Ammo

I have a Colt Match Target M4 (MT6400C).

Very Accurate. Never had a single jam or problem.

No retractable stock or other "evil" features (bayo lug etc.) makes it legal in NY and NJ I believe (Check local laws though!). And I have all pre-ban 30 round mags.

You should get one too! It is a great rifle.

I think you can own a colt, it just cant say ar15 on it, so i guess that would be post BAN
you can have.. like dave said no evil crap on it.
I would like to get a colt but the price on it you can get about4 to 5, bushmaster lowers for the one colt.

I live in NJ and purchased a Colt 6400c M4 several months ago. It is NJ legal. I paid $1,200 out the door and it is a great gun. I really love it. I just wish we could own 30 round mags instead of dealing with the 15 mag BS we are stuck with.

The place I got mine a couple years ago now says sold out too, Colts are rare nowadays, esp post ban.
