I just picked up the forms at my local precinct to get some handgun purchase permits, and under the instruction for what to fill out for the permits, it states " You must be 21 years of age to purchase a concealed weapon". Have they always referred to handguns as "concealed weapons"? Just seemed a bit odd. Maybe I just never noticed?

That statement is on the "Application to Purchase a Handgun"?  Where?  Is it a departmental thing?

I'm confused also...the state pistol purchase permit is just the FID application.  The state law precludes local PDs from appending requirements (although it's been said that a few do it anyway).

I know of a few PDs that require a photo of PPP & FID applicants.

Mike

P.S. I think a poster in this thread has some permits waiting for him.

This wording is on the instruction sheet that is provided with the forms for the handgun permit/FID. Its from the South Brunswick PD. I guess its just how they word it? They also have in there that " Fingerprints are required of all new applicants and applicants who have not had activity on file within the past two years". Sorry for the confusion.

Is this just in case you have your fingerprints altered by a doctor?

It's just another way to generate revenue for the town. Lacey does the same thing EVERYTIME you fill out the application.

I guess I have no other choice but to apply for handgun purchase permits more often. Somehow I dont think this is what they had in mind when they deceided on this requirement.
