They are LOUD. Even with all the windows closed! I didn't get any sleep last night because there was a group of them getting into the neighbor's trash and making a ruckus, and my parent's Labrador was nervous and barking at every noise they made until sunrise. I've never heard coyotes like that before, it was creepy and eerie getting woken at midnight to their yipping and howling. I read that they are usually in family groups of 5-6 this time of year, but I swear it sounded like double that. I'm not a hunter, but I'm considering getting my small game license to deliver some payback for last night and knock their population down a few. They're much more prevalent lately; in fact I've never heard them around here before this year. The population must've exploded. I'm keeping my mother's cat in the house at night while they are on vacation because I don't want to have to explain how she became coyote food. |
