If you watch the local news (CBS NY, News 12, etc.) you may have heard about the accident on the Saw Mill Parkway in Westchester early this morning. An intoxicated woman managed to crossover onto the wrong side of the Saw Mill (a parkway which has guardrails damn near down the entire length) and slammed head-on into a middle-aged gentleman on his way to work. In the process, the woman killed her daughter's best friend. Her actions disgust me as do the actions of every person who chooses to get behind the wheel impaired. Mrs. Ciarcia deserves to have the book thrown at her. None of this vehicular manslaughter crap, she deserves nothing short of murder for her actions. I would question the ethics (and psychology) behind taking your under-aged daugther and friend 'clubbing' in Manhattan. That can be written off as some midlife crisis thing... however then getting plastered and driving so wrecklessly with teenagers in the vehicle blows my mind. Ciarcia survived this mess for a reason. She survived so that every morning when she wakes up and has to look in the mirror, she'll realize that her selfish and idiotic actions took the life of yet another young Westchester girl. wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_261090109.html Sorry if this is offtopic.. I'm just a tad bit frustrated with what has gone on today. |

You are not alone in your feelings. Wife and son were victimized by a drunken woman on her way to work as a saloon hostess in Massapequa. She blew a .29 one hour and fortyfive minutes after she turned left in front of them. Luckily, my wife's surgery for a broken foot came out fairly good, son was just banged up. The drunken bitch ? Slap on the wrist: misdemeanor, one night in jail, license revocation, $500. fine, blah blah blah. Getting a boat and trailer, replacement car and vinyl privacy fencing out of her insurance company didn't quite cut it either. Hopefully her rates are still sky-high. We are presently holding a trial in Nassau for the drunk that murdered the chauffeur and little girl who was the flower girl at her sister's wedding. The murder charge may not stick because a trooper failed to write the drunken bum's name on the blood sample, only his own initials. |

Pequa, I'm sorry to hear what happened to your wife and son. Its all too typical of how lightly drunk drivers in NYS are treated. I am however happy to hear that they will recover. If you want to relate this to firearms, what would happen if one of us went out into the street and started firing randomly? They would throw the book at us. But if someone gets intoxicated out of their senses and drives wildly down the street, they get a slap on the wrist. How is a 2 ton vehicle any less dangerous than a 55 grain bullet? |

My BIL was killed by a drunk/drug impaired driver that T-Boned him after running through a red light at 60-70 MPH. The car was hit on the driver side and pushed him and the center console almost up against the passenger side door. He was killed instantly. In NY a first offense DWI with no personal injury accident will be dropped to a traffic infraction. Conversely if you simply possess a + 10 rd magazine manufactured after 09-13-1994 you will be charged and possibly convicted of a felony. |
We were just talking about that yesterday at Freeport range...Someone knows the cop that screwed it up. Someone said it was the Hospital that screwed up and they didn't put the name on it. All I know that even this technicality will not get the A-hole off the hook..There are Dead bodies and film of the guy. I liked the guys mom saying this is a political witch-hunt that her son is a good boy and that is was just an unforeseen accident. |

Lion_dog, I think she is pretty much damaged for life anyway. The daughter's friend was dead on impact with the dashboard and dropped onto the driver's side. I could only imagine how sobering that must have been to look down and know that you were responsible for the gruesome death of a 16 year old girl. She'll see that face everytime she closes her eyes for the rest of her life. |
Call me old fashion but I'm pretty much an "eye for an eye" type of guy. All the mental anguish this POS will experience would not be enough for me if it were my daughter dead from her hands. |
| I was rear ended by a drunk driver that fled the scene. I sound out she wraped herself around a telephone pole later that night and spent seven months in a coma. My buddy was drinking a Frutopia when we got hit and the juice went straight up his nose. The bottle bounced off his head and broke my windshield from the inside. When the cops came to write it up, he tinned them and we all had a grand old time writing up the report. Gotta love having a cop as a witness. My sister was hit by a drunk driver who was killed in the crash. She was in a 3\4 ton tow truck that looked like a horse shoe after the collision. The drunk was driving on a suspended license. |
Well obviously we should get Schumer and Clinton to ban Frutopia! At least do it for the kids. My story is a little more personal; my stepfather was a raving alcoholic. One night he lost control of his ford escort, doing 90+mph in a 30. Sucker lived, but he's still sucking from a tube. As you can see, I am totally torn up about it. If he'd kept control for another 2 minutes, he would have been back in a 55, and with a nice 100ft drop off to lose the SOB forever. |

The stories go on and on.... Easter morning about 10 years ago, my family was awoken by the sound of a car crash followed by the squealing of tires and another loud thud that shook our 4 family apartment. When we went outside we were stunned to find my mother's brand new car annihilated and a vehicle literally halfway inside our house! What had happened was two drunk illegal Mexicans were cruising around that Easter morning when the driver passed out at the wheel and veered off into my mother's parked car. The impact woke him up and fearing that he'd get caught, he floored it which actually dragged the car out into the street. The bumper on my mother's car broke free and he went hurdling into our house, busting through the wall and nearly killing one of the other tenants. Needless to say, he didn't even have insurance. ---------------- Another one. About 4 years ago my mother was driving home from work with her beloved dog in the car. She was driving down a busy street when a drunk in a van cut across two lanes of traffic and hit the front left of her car. She hit her head on the steering wheel and the dog flew into the front seat smashing himself on the dash. To this day, that dog hates cars of any type and is scared to death to ride in them. My mother ended up being fine. The driver fled the scene but was caught later and found intoxicated. ---------------- Want another one? About 2 years ago I was stopped at a traffic light early in the morning while on my way to work. I happened to look in the rear view mirror and noticed a Durango moving rather fast down the road towards my position. I remember thinking "Holy shit, he's not stopping..." just before he slammed into the rear of my truck. My truck skidded away from his several feet and we both got out of our vehicles. The guy barely spoke English and he stunk of alcohol. I looked at his vehicle and noticed that my ball hitch had gone through his radiator and it was spraying anti-freeze all over the ground. I told him that we should pull over and exchange information (with the very limited Spanish I speak...) and he agreed. We got into our vehicles, I pulled over.. he took off running. 99% of the damage was to his Durango and not my truck so I kind of just shook it off and figured that was that. I called the police anyway to report the accident and ID his truck. The Durango was found about 5 miles up a nearby highway on the side of the road. All the coolant had leaked out of his radiator block and he overheated his SUV in the mad dash to get away. Irony at its finest. |
NO comment.
She got fined? ![]()
Did you get any satisfaction here - other than the irony? |
|
She didn't get fined, she was fine as in alright. As far as satisfaction, my truck literally had zero damage. I'm assuming he was arrested for driving drunk (if he was over the legal limit of course.) I gave a report to the police but didn't really need to do anything other than notify my insurance company that there was no damage to my vehicle. Never really heard anything else about it from Greenburgh PD. |

. What the fuck are these people thinking ?????????????????
