I know I asked this question before but I can't find the response so it must have been awhile ago and I don't recall the exact answer.  So here goes again.  Now that the Senate Bill to expand the definition of assault weapons is tied up in the codes committee and the session ended does the bill have to start all over in the assembly again?  Or should we concentrate on our senators at this point.  I realize the session will reconvene in January after the State of the State address.  I've got a second wind in regards to letter writing and just wonder were my efforts should be directed.

thanks
Brett

PS.  I know, I know, I'm a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad citizen.  I should know how this works.

It is my understanding (which I verified with my state senator's office) that any bill which was reported to the Senate by the Assembly in the 2005 session needs no further action by the Assembly for the Senate to act on it. So the short answer is start calling and writing letters again in January so this bill never gets to the Senate floor.

You are aware that the whole "voting" process is a joke as any bill sent to the floor by a majority controlled committee is virtually assured passage by the majority party. There is no debate to speak of in the NY Legislature nor is there any input from the public for most laws passed in NY.
