| has anyone heard any info on how the senate voted in NY?I think they were supposed to vote today. I went on the NYS site but nothing new.hinking.gif |

I think the Senate is done and they didn't vote on any gun bills according to Jacob, the Legislative director at NYSRPA. The Assembly is still in session. He said the only one really pushing the anti-gun bills is Eric Schneiderman. Eric will likely be back with more antigun bills so we need to bombard his office with calls. His NYC number is (212) 928-5578. Lets call and really tie up his staff. It doesn't matter that they are out of session. The majority leader can call a session for special cases so lets get on this |
| You're wasting your time calling Schneiderman and the other NYC anti-gun democrats. Put your effort into calling and thanking the Senators who are letting these bills die and let them know that you will be working to see that they are reelected. The Republican majority in the NY Senate is the only thing that's preventing NYC/LI legislators from enacting CA (and worse) type gun laws. |
This can work. We actually shut down the office of the speaker here in Minnesota. He could do no business until he addressed our concerns. They had no phone and no email out of his office. People will always find a reason to do nothing. If everyone keeps the pressure on they cannot ignore you. |

You have to understand the way the NY Assembly works. These anti-gun bills are assured passage by the party leadership when they hit the floor. There is no debate, public hearings or any input/discussion from the public. You guys need to get involved in the political process and work towards electing and reelecting pro-gun candidates. Contribute money to their campaigns and volunteer to man the phones and distribute campaign materials to voters. If you are not already a member join the NYSRPA and contribute to the NYSRPA PAC. www.nysrpa.org/rpa-pac.htm www.nysrpa.org/membership.pdf |
