I heard he cried Friday night when he couldn't get his musket sighted in....

Is it true he insisted on keeping both eyes closed?

Anybody out there? Be a shame if the penguin and I have no witnesses to our epic shootout...

Despite some demand, no, "aqua-bumping" will NOT be a scheduled part of the match. Sorry guys.

Weather looks to be decent for tomorrow.

First match is in the books. Due to poor advertising (don't ask), it was a light turnout with 11 shooters. This match was faster paced and had smaller scoring zones on 3 of 4 stages compared to a "real" CMP match. It was a challenging match, I think.

The top 5 shooters (my usual guys I compete against, and good shots all) posted scores from 387 to 372.  One shooter who shall go unnamed thought he was in a groove, phucked up, and placed 5 nice shots on the neighboring target in slow/prone before looking through his spotting scope and couldn't find the shots on his target. Despite that, I still posted a 372

Top shooter used a Bushie DCM AR15. Next 4 used M1As (including board members junkpicker, mforgerer, and yours truly). Also seen where some FALS and an 03A3 Springfield. This was a real nice recent CMP rifle.

Afterwards, I put out some bowling pins for a fun shoot.

Aimless failed to appear. His story is that his alarm didn't go off. Suuurrrrre it didn't!

funny looking penguin--->

Thanks to AKsRule for making the drive from PA. Hopefully more of you guys from the board can attend next time in July. I'll bring the thread BTT next month.

OK, the next match will be held at Ed's place

Got that 100 yard berm and covered range in place yet, Ed?   Of course, we could just shoot off the back deck/DOT*. Hotdog won't have as far to run to fetch us our beverages and barbecue

*DOT= "deer observation tower"

Now see, normally I wouldn't say a word amidst all this Upstate chatter, but are you, SP10, actually telling me that EdSr and/or Aimless continue their Bulletfest Shortcut trick of driving west to get east in their own native environment ???

Well, I hate to admit it, but Ed has been known to take a wrong turn or 3.

I have heard that the penguin could also make good use of a tactical GPS unit as well. He at least needs an alarm clock that works

Marc - I'm glad to hear it turned out OK, I'm just sorry I couldn't attend... I had to help with the set-up of a benefit for a friend, and also had to do a little last minute tuning to my bike after installing a free electronic ignition(no more adjusting points - woohoo!!!).... Anyways, I appreciate the reminder via IM, and promise I'll make the next one...

PS - The keg party at Ed's sounds interesting!!!

+2. Ed, sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Had to get on the road, wanted to get the drive out of the way. Hopefully wont be another two years before we get to shoot together again. -Justin

We had a fun shoot today. The weather was pleasant. My friend Doug won the match with a 394. I came in second with a 377. Aimless tied another guy for 3rd with a 351 ( I didn't count Xs. Oops.). 13 shooters in all; 3 guys shot twice. This match is tougher than a real CMP 100 yd match as 3 of 4 targets (rapids and off-hand) have reduced scoring zones in comparison.

Guns shot in the match today: AR15s, M1As, CETME, AK47, Garands, M1 carbine, Moisin Nagant.

We then shot the hell out of bowling pins afterwards. Sorry most of you guys missed the fun.

A big thanks to Aimless and Adirondack47 for helping me run the shoot

Ok, BTT for the last shoot being held on August 27th. Other than a couple friends on the board who have attended, the response has been underwhelming...and I thought some of you guys were looking for an ARFcom black rifle shooting opportunity?

Hey! Looks like I can make this one! No campout/BS/Burning stuff session, but it'll be good to get out for a fun match.
Did the pistol match idea get any traction?
Is this the match where bonus points are awarded for travel time?
What do you say, 1 piont / mile?

Geeze, don't give Aimless any ideas. He cried like a baby when he crossfired a 10ring hit on a neighboring target (he was shooting a poodleshooter, the neighbor a Garand, so it was easy to tell when I scored it)

I'm doing a precison rifle match instead of a pistol match in September, but we can do some pistol work after the match is finished. Bring you holster and spare mag pouch

So COOL...

Aimless will be there to help us out too!

I could use a couple extra X's - might help me stay in front of him this year.

And bring it to the gunshop...

Oh man, you are the bane of all 1911 owners. I bet you have little 1911 figurines you still pins in

Poor Goodorbit and his Colt and that 80 series junk. I have never seen that failure before, and it was a doozy. It is one of the reasons I really like my Springfields (which so far have been immune to your curses).

Well, today most of the fun was AFTER the rifle matches

Thanks again guys. Lots of fun & well worth the trip.
