Generally speaking,
when do the weekends become less crowded again at Calverton?  I have nothing against hunting (started doing it myself last season) but it obviously makes for quite crowded weekends in the early fall.

Well, right now I suppose. I was there last Sunday and was shocked that thoughout the day many tables remained empty. Two Sundays before I couldn't get a table even after waiiting an hour.

What i cant figure out is why do they need to sight in their crap every year. They're lucky to shoot 1 deer and then what. the rings/mounts come apart?????Have another beer fellas

I've had the same rings/mounts/scope on my Rem700 for over 20years. still shoots the same spot it did when i sighted in.

yup, you would think so.  But 2 Fridays back I snuck a peek at the targets of a couple of those bolt actions and there were often groups, and that was being kind to two of them, that were a foot off at 100 yards.  I can take my carry handle 70 buck optic from Galati off an on and be that close every time!
But the bottom line question is still, on what week of what month in mid autumn do the hunters start to dwindle at Calverton on the weekend?

Believe me, just because a guy says he "likes to hunt", doesn't make him a Hunter (or a marksman) in my opinion....I used to have guys come to the range I worked and complain about their "scopes being off"...off the paper at 100 yds that is.

Take them and the rifle to the 15 yd. range and the best they could do is put two shots a foot apart....

Hey, if you enjoy walking in the woods in the Autumn, fine. But a lot of guys (IMHO) don't go to the range often enough in the off season to acquire the shooting skills that come from PRACTICE.

I say they start to dwindle when they start "hunting" and "accidentaly" shoot each other.

I usualy don't get there till noon by 1pm the place clears out.then you 3.5 hours to shoot, unless you don't live close enough for it to be worth it.
