| My dad and younger brother just got their TX CCW. Neither own a handgun or have much gun experience and I have advised them on what guns would be good for them. I have been looking at lgs websites and they all seem to advertise msrp or very close to that. S&W Shields are all over $400, I got mine for $350 including tax. I don't want them to go to Academy and get sold a crappy gun from a teen who does know which end of the barrel the bullet comes out of or pay Gander prices. Any suggestions would really help. |
| I recently bought an LWRC rifle from Spring Guns and Ammo. They had a great selection and nice people. They were pushing the Lionheart brand pretty hard, though. I actually bought one because my wife liked it and I'm hoping to coax her out to the range more, but just be wary of that. They had a good selection of used guns too. What year did you purchase your Shield? I haven't seen any new gun at a retailer under $400 in over a year. |

Went there while visiting my dad once, way overpriced. I looked at their recent ad and a few bolt actions were cheap, but most of the sale prices are more than everyday prices here. |

When I lived there they certainly had great prices on most everything. Can't believe anyone is suggesting Carter's or Gander Mountain....their prices are the highest in the area consistently. I remember after Obama got elected Carter's was moving Bushmasters for 1499. |

There is also WartHog Firearms in Old Town Spring. |

If they are still looking, they might go by Saddle River Range about 9 miles west of I-45 on FM-1488.
Its a newer facility that has a nice selection of guns at what appear to be good prices. They also have a selection of rental guns they can try out at their indoor range to help them select what they want. |

And i shot one handgun there for less than one hour, $21. In Dayton I can shoot literally all day for $8. But I will say that it is a very nice facility. |
