Did anyone else find it odd that she(R) was able to win over Craig Watkins(D) in Dallas Co proper, only to have problems which led to her trying to be forcibly removed and finally voluntarily resigning, leaving the seat open to be filled by the governor, ONE WEEK AFTER the deadline that would allow voters to pick her replacement in November's general election.
In other words, was she put in there only to get Watkins out of office with the powers to be knowing they could bump her out later? Except she realized the game and put the screws to them for one more election cycle. Tin foil, but it's Dallas Co where we name streets after city councilmen who get convicted. |

Not odd, just politics. Nearly anyone could have beaten Craig Watkins because he's a scumbag of the highest order. Hawk kept her mental health problems a secret until she was being vilified in the press for her mismanagement of the office. Even though she's a RHINO, the Dallas Co Republicans didn't want to give the Democrats a crack at filling her seat in November. Incumbents have an edge, so whatever appointee is picked by Abbott is already a leg up. |

I think she is a lifelong Democrat. DMN did a piece mentioning this saying anti Watkins people did not think they could defeat him in primary, so they recruited her to run as a Republican. |

Yeah, but we've had our share of bad democrats who just keep getting re-elected simply because of the D. |

I look at it as an opportunity to get a decent republican in that office cause we desperately need one in that area. I expect Abbott will be able to find a good candidate. Doesn't matter. Dallas County will elect another D to the office now. Republicans had their shot and elected a dud, it'll swing back D now and forever. |
