Who all made it today? Lots of people there but saw very few new gun transactions. Lots of Trump T-shirts that didn't seem to be selling. Hmmm.
Used pistol prices are insane. I saw used S&W, Ruger, and Taurus ( well used I might add) that were bringing $100 more than the guns were worth new. Saw a Toyota pickup in the parking lot with a Zombie bolt face sticker. Which one of you was it? |

1st gun show I've been to in a while. Seemed to me it was pretty dead. Well as far as DMHGS goes. The North Hall was practically empty as were a few isles in the main hall.
Saw a S&W 329 PD scandium frame I thought about getting, really want the 325PD though. Very surprised I didn't see any MCX pistols, or for that matter MCX rifles. Saw quite a few MPX pistols and rifles though. Was there around 1pm and there were quite a few folks filling out 4473's. |
Almost bought a new High Point carbine for $220 but just couldn't make myself do it.
I went in looking for an EAA Witness FAB-92 but didn't find one. Very few CZ guns and almost no EAA's. One dealer said the Euro/dollar ratio is so bad now, no one is dealing with the company that imports EAA. At <300 they are a good buy, at >500, not so much. |

several dealers are out of business. several no longer do shows, cost V profits are in the tank
buddy of mine said he didn't make lunch money last 2 shows.. Market Hall had 70 empty tables in the main hall last show so I did NOT come to town for this one...shows are on the wain sadly..between the Net and Big Table competitors who sell guns $5 over cost putting small guys out of business and biting into "collector" pricing and sales.. well until POTUS Clinton wins in November then Kati-bar the door.. |

Wow Market Hall used to be a good show. Glad I didn't go. As you say, things are cyclical. Once prices blow up again, it'll be back |

I did go yesterday and I'm sad to say this show was much worse than the last Market Hall show...MUCH worse...more empty tables, almost nothing at all in the 2nd hall...a good 1/3rd or more of the tables that were setup had nothing at all to do with guns and ammo...it was just sad. I took a pre-ban Colt AR15A2 HBAR Sporter there - a real green label preban thinking I might trade it for another pre-ban...well there were only a couple of other pre-ban guns in the entire show neither of which interested me. I also had $1000 in my pocket and only bought a Coke...Hell there wasn't even anyone setup there with ammo cans, I wanted to get a few more of them but nope...didn't happen there.
I went to Cabelas after the show - picked up a mint in original box Ruger Standard Model .22 from 1967 for a whopping $185...that's how strange and screwed up things are when you find deals at Cabelas and nothing at what used to be a premier gun show. Earl |

Earl There were ammo cans there. Found a good price on primers. June shows have been historically bad. |

Yup. Easy to find the shady ones. Prices are always listed at or right below msrp. Send a few messages and next thing you know 50-100 less |

I drove up from Austin with my BrotherinLaw. He bought a knife. I did some cartridge trading.
There was a little bit of everything there, and only really sucked if you wanted specific things for less than you can buy them on the internet (which is already bottom dollar) for. I go there to find things I can't buy on the internet. I go to gunshows to buy stuff from people walking around. I succeeded. |

I went on Saturday and for the 35+ years I have been going this was the worst I have ever seen a Market Hall show. I've never seen that many open tables. |

Gun shows are a waste of time, everything is cheaper and easier on the net. Not so. You are limiting yourself. I've walked up and bought plenty of things with cash in hand that I would have never been able to get online for cheaper. And instant gratification is a bonus. |

Depending on how much shipping is, the cost is almost even on some items. |

You can't beat online or all the shady kitchen table FFL selling under msrp off armslist <------Kitchen table FFL/SOT that has a damned good reputation. Kitchen table FFL's have to follow the exact same regulations that storefront dealers do. Unless you actually know a "shady kitchen table FFL" you are just talking out of your ass.
As far as "selling under msrp".........who the fuck sells at a price HIGHER than MSRP?
Look at how that worked out for Cheaper Than Dirt. I think you don't know the difference between MSRP and MAP. MSRP is Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price........and no manufacturer expects a dealer to actually sell at that price. MAP is Minimum Advertised Pricing, meaning the dealer can sell for less but cannot advertise or mark his price tags less than MAP, otherwise he risks the wrath of that manufacturer. |

I enjoy going even if just talking with folks, I feel comfortable there because I know there are few liberals (liberals stink and make me sick to my stomach). |

What's the price of admission these days? I think it was $8 the last time I went (some 10+ years ago). I always felt like I needed to buy "something" just to make the admission fee count for something.
Bargain internet purchases with free shipping rule!! $10, but unlike Ft Worth, free parking. BTW: that was the biggest DPD show of force in the parking lot that I've seen there in a long, long time. Heavy patrols in the parking garage and the lots. Wonder if there was a trade show at the hotel too? |

After all these years, I guess that isn't too bad when you factor in the current rate of deflation.
Back in the early 90's, Market Hall was a good day-long event. |
